Do you SPY on your Doodle(s)

I would love to set up a web cam in our basement to watch R&B while they are home alone. I worry so much when I am at work about what they are chewin, curious if they play or just sleep.   Has anyone done this and recommend the equipment, service to do this?

You might have a good business idea here. We have always been curious as well. I also always wanted to do the same thing when our house was for sale in FL!

I have done this with my 1 year old pup when we first started leaving him out of his crate. It was a pretty boring recording to watch, as he simply looked out the window and slept all day. But we did it with a built in web cam that is in our Mac laptop computer. If you have a Mac you record using Imovie. I know that many PCs also have built in cameras as well. It works well if you can position the computer in the right spot.

The last time when I was away for business, my husband and I chatted everyday using Skype video call function. We both have our own laptops with built in microphone, speaker and camera. One time we chatted for a while, and he decided he wanted McDonalds for lunch, so he left the laptop on the dining table with Skype video call still on and ran out to get his lunch. While he was away, I was watching the dogs, and saw Koda counter surfing. I yelled at him to get off the counter, and he did! He didn't know I was there watching him using the laptop.

hmmm DH keeps hounding for a new laptop, maybe this is the reason I should cave. I thought he was just jealous that I have so much fun on DK! But now this laptop could serve purpose!! Can't you all just see me at work talkin to my doodles over the computer!!

I see myself getting in trouble at work with this...it's hard enough to work and follow the DK discussions but add webcam of my doodle and my productivity would go way down!

We did this a few years ago with our 2 dogs, Cody & Dixie. We had a motion activated camera which recorded on the computer harddrive. Our dogs had developed the bad habit of "cleaning up" after we'd leave home and we were curious to see who and when this happened. It was lots of fun to watch and we solved the mystery of the missing loaf of bread.....

We don't at home but when he's at daycare we watch him on their online webcam. It's fun!

About 2 yrs ago when we first started leaving D&K loose in the house we set up our computer's web cam to tape them all day. They literally slept all day. They got up to move locations a few times but otherwise were asleep 90-95% of the time we were gone (which was the full day). It was a very boring video :)
