I was just bringing groceries in for my mother and using the "Wait" command each time I opened the door to the garage so that Sunny wouldn't get out. I started to think about how often I use each of Sunny's commands, and the list in order of popularity is something like this:

1. Wait (she has to wait for me to go through doors and gates first, and I tell her to wait when I leave for work so she doesn't bolt out with me like she did when she was a puppy)

2. Sit (for a greeting, for food or a treat)

3. Leave it (usually referring to my other dog or my pet bearded dragons)

4. Walk Pretty

5. High Five

What does your list look like?

OFF! (oops first one would have to be no lick! Myla gives us a bath way too often)

WAIT!

Leave IT!

Back

SIT

High five

1- Get your nose out of my butt!

2 - Sit

3- Come

4- Down

5- Wait

6. Stay

7 - Enough! (when the licking turns into a slobbery bath)

Ha! Sunny's favorite thing in the world is to stick her nose up my skirt and exhale quickly. It gets quite the reaction!
love your number one!

1.  Sit

2. Leave it (usually for something they find outside and want to eat like leaves or rabbit poo)

3. Off (me, you or the counter)

4. Down (as in lay)

Definitely "Leave it" because Sophie Bear loves to play with Penelope the Kitty and she doesn't like it as much.
wait is used alot in my house - Cooper is very impatient!

Leave it!... leave it... Out!... No!... Drop it... Bailey, Leave it!

As you can see that command does not work very well... haha

WAIT

OFF

SIT

STAY

HIGH FIVE

1.  Noah, leave the dog alone!

2.  Sit!

3.  Let go! ( I probably should be saying Drop it)

4.  Leave it!

5.  Go to your crate.

We're actually trying to use as few word commands as possible now, which is really kind of fun.  We use signals or body language and probably sit, down and stay and come in that order are the ones we use most frequently.  We also use "unh unh" or a "click" to signify "no" or stop whatever it is you're doing, cause it's a BAD CHOICE.  I don't really have to tell them to "heel" any more...they just sort of know that's how we walk.
Awesome Jane! Tara responds much better to signals than to words too!  We also use uh, uh instead of "no". In fact I have been so successful with Tara and signals that I have decided to try to train my DH with them now!! LOL!! I used "stay" and "sit" with him the other day and he responded quite well!!  :)
