Hi Kay,

Thanks for the very kind offer to watch 1 of your grooming sessions. I'll let you know if we decide to take you up on it sometime. Right now we're just concentrating on getting through the coat change without any major matting issues! :)

Hi Gina,

There are some good tips in the Grooming Group. I would be happy to have you come over and watch me trim my dogs if that would help. I am by no means an expert but I get the job done:)

Hi Kay,

Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid of "butchering", too. I've got some great shears & clippers to keep him trimmed around the face, feet, & ears, but am leery of tackling the body with the shears. I've come across a few groomers here & there when we've been in Petsmart or some such place - most of them had experience with Labradoodles but then said none of the ones they'd groomed had coats like Bailey's. I expect they mostly have experience with F1's & not seen many Australian multi-gen's. I think the biggest trick is to learn the right terminology so you know exactly what to ask for & to find a groomer who will listen to your requests. I'll have to spend some time in the Grooming Group to learn the lingo!

Hi Gina,

Wish I could suggest someone. I started grooming my own dogs and my puppies living near me after a couple really bad 'professional' groomers butchered my dogs. Have you tried to hand scissor Bailey? It's not that difficult.

I really wish we could skip March and jump into april...snow on sunday, freezing rain and rain today...cold tomorrow, sunny and warm this weekend. :-))
We are lucky because we have a cement run area for our dogs to go do their duties...easy to clean, and no muddy paws ( we did this after we had 2 large golden retrievers years ago...and a huge mud pit:-))) Think Spring!!!!

Hi all! Anyone in the metro-Detroit area who can recommend a good Doodle groomer? Bailey is almost a year old & going through his coat change. We're brushing him daily, as well as trimming around the face & feet, & it seems to be going OK. But soon he's going to need to go in for a real trim. Looking for a good groomer, hopefully with some experience with Doodles...

I'm thankful for spring but, I am really getting sick of wiping muddy paws all day. My biggest problem is getting Bear to go to the bathroom on the grass. He has been trained to go out on the snow and it's slowly melting away. He has been going further and further into the woods to find the last few spots of snow. Hopefully he'll catch on quickly.
