I did Ben Wilmore's course but don't remember a bit. He is a great teacher though.
Two big announcements:
1. Yesterday there was a significant update to Lightroom for those that use it. It also applies to the Adobe Camera Raw module. They updated and expanded the camera profiles, and made them a more integral part of the process. For those that didn't understand any of that, watch a few of the videos about it on youtube. I did watch the videos and understand the significance but I really won't know the true impact until I try it out first hand. The photography community and those that know are super excited about this.
2. STARTING ON MONDAY APRIL 9, Ben Willmore is doing his Lightroom bootcamp again. It is free when it is live. What I like about it is that it's 1 lesson a day M-F for 4 weeks, and about 1 hour long. And it loops for 24 hours so you can watch it at any point during the day, or multiple times. I learned how to use lightroom by watching this class 2 years ago. Had it looping in the background while I worked. I HIGHLY recommend. He is a good teacher. Lightroom is really amazing. Once you understand and start using it you will wonder why you waited so long. One additional note: paying attention the first week is the most critical because it covers the structure of the program and the boring parts about organizing your files. Too many people I know don't pay attention to this part because they are focused on getting to the fun editing part and then the file structure is a mess and confusing and they loose interest.
Good idea, Anne and F! Nancy, No problem!
By request and suggestions. I love the monthly assignment and would like for it to continue.
Suggestion: TREES. March is a month of transition for a good portion of the country. Trees go from bare bones to buds swelling, flowering and leaves. My suggestion would be anything trees.
Laurie, by request and with suggestions.
I should have the March photo lesson up by tonight or tomorrow. Sorry for being late. I am working on it.
F, Are you still doing monthly assignments?
Either assignment is fine with me.
Out of my comfort zone please
So it's March 1st. I haven't done the March assignment yet. Running behind. I have a couple of ideas. I know everyone loves the photoshop stuff. I still feel that helping people to take better photos is a better way to approach photography than to fix it later.
I have 2 options. One is a lesson about getting catch lights in the eyes in camera. Doodles are tricky and there are a few tricks. The second is about taking you out of your normal way of shooting. I will propose going to a location of your choice and I will give you tips to take 30 totally different photos within an hour or so of time.
