Brittney, I agree that local kennel clubs are a good way to find classes. Also, just google canine agility in your area and see what comes up. You should be able to visit a facility and sit in on a class before making a decision. A puppy should not be doing jumps but they can set the bar at ground level so that you can learn how to work with the obstacles.
Barb, that ribbon is quite impressive. Don't you think it motivates the dogs?! Hahaha. Congratulations! We are still beginners but enjoying it a lot.
Is there a website or place you can see if there is any agility classes? Cally is only a little over four months but I want to know for the future! Thanks in advance!
I just joined the group but see it is not particularly active. Penelope has been taking classes for the past couple of months and we are both having a great time. I don't know yet if we'll compete. So far, we are just enjoying the process. Because she is just a baby (13 months) she has only seen low jumps. She was measured last weeks and for the first time I realized how big she is - 24 inches! We have a LONG way to go before she'll be jumping at that height. Strangely, in my mind she is still my little puppy.
can anyone recommend a trainer on Long Island? thanks!
We're taking our first agility class now and Raley loves it! Happy to hop on wobble boards, teeters, tables and through tunnels with a smile on her face!
Nice...I took my f1 and an ALD boy to a Rally O trial and my f1 aced it and got her Novice title first try and my ALD, who is a huge couch potato, timed out twice and refused to work on the last round. sigh
Thanks Barb!! It was a hard fought battle to get that Q!!! Hartley is extremely sociable, which is great, but it means he is often compelled to go visiting the judge and the ring crew before completing the course!!
Here is a picture of us with his ribbons!! (I was on DK on my phone before, and couldn't work out how to post a picture!).
