thanks Meg- yes we weighed him with my husband in his arms- getting her to sit on a scale- now that I'm impressed with. I know the puppy times are hard but I'm guessing it goes by much too fast- - Murphy is a cutie pie, love his doodle do.
Patty, Here is a good formula for estimating a doodle's adult weight.....
Doodle Estimated Adult Weight = weight at 4 months X 2 + or -5 pounds
When Murphy was a puppy I weighed him every Wednesday morning. He got used to this and will still sit for me on the scales. He was the smallest male pup in his litter at only 5.5 lbs when I brought him home at 8 wks. I really expected him to be about 40 lbs (breeder's estimate) but he is now 57 lbs at 4 yrs old. The formal for growth was right on in estimating his adult weight.
P.S. I know what you mean about being happier than you have in years... that would describe me exactly - and he still makes me very happy.
Congrats Patty, welcome to the wonderful, wacky world of Goldendoodles. Our girl just had her annual physical and came in weighing 60 pounds! She is
a standard and always had big paws, but not sure of their size as a pup cause she was six months old when she joined our family. Enjoy, enjoy!
Hi all! We have a new puppy- Quincy, Standard F1. She was born on 11/23 and she weighs 19 lbs. her paws are huge. I was wondering what to expect size wise. The breeder said she could be about 60lbs or more- Right now I carry her down the stairs for a potty breaks from her crate- its going to be a workout soon.
Thank you Roberta. That makes me feel better. I also have Abby on large breed puppy food. I have also found that if I sit near her when she starts eating, she will usually eat most of her food. If I set it down and walk away, she will take a bite and then follow me.
She sounds a bit small for a standard to me, but as long as she is healthy, you don't need to worry. As long as you are giving her good food (should be puppy chow), she will grow to the right size for her.
Ok, so I am sure I am making a big deal out of nothing, but I am going to throw this out there anyway.
I have a beautiful female F1 standard goldendoodle. She turned 12 weeks today and only weighs 9.5 pounds. I have seen people post about their puppy's weight at this age and they are more in the 12lbs or higher range. She was just at the vet last week and he said she is healthy and has lots of energy, which are signs she is not malnourished. She eats, just not much. I have been trying to get her to eat more since her height is increasing rapidly. I want to make sure she has strong, healthy bones. So should I be worried?
