Poor Gromit, he has been through so much. He is currently at the emergency vet with pneumonia. He was playing and having a wonderful time with me Friday, and a few hours later he was lathargic and vomiting. Because of the speed of onset, the vet thinks he aspirated on food or something. It's touch and go, he is at urgent care in an oxygen cage and getting a nebulizer and antibiotics. When he saw my husband today he stood up and wagged his tale, so we are hopeful that he is making a recovery. I'm heart sick for him, he looks pale and drawn, and he's only 4 months old!!!! First a bite, and now this. Although the bite was not nearly as frightening as this. My 10 year old schnauzer has never been through anything like this, and poor Gromit is so young. I'n really feeling like he is in good hands, he was at our regular vet yesterday, after being transfered from the 24 hour urgent care. They are not there from 7:00 pm until 8:00 am, so we decided to take him home last night. At about 3:00 am (after having been up with him all night), I just got too worried about his breathing and woke my dh to take him back to the urgent care. I'm so glad he did, he really needed the oxygen, and a better treatment plan than we were getting from our vet. I made a total fool of myself when I went to visiting hours today by bursting into tears when I saw him. I'm sure you all understand though. Please keep him in your thoughts, I really think positive energy and thoughts will help him through this.

Hello everyone,

My name is Cindy and I'm shopping for a Labradoodle!

Thanks Sharon and Boo for telling me about this website.

Sharon asked what I'm looking for and thought I'd share with all of you. Please PM me with any referrals, advice, etc.

I'm looking for a labradoodle - medium (45lbs or so), wavy/fleece coat, chocolate or red/apricot, moderate activity (e.g., hiking)

I have asthma and allergies so tendencies towards non-shedding and hypoallergenic is very important

I'm not in a hurry and willing to wait for the right dog

I'd certainly prefer a breeder close by or at least within 500 miles so we could drive there and see the dog before we make a decision. The two websites I liked the most were California Labadoodles in Woodside and Sierra Vista in Davis (based on photos and information).

I drove out to Richmond today for the romp and met a lot of nice people and beautiful dogs - more goldendoodles than labradoodles - it was really hard to tell them apart!

I won't be able to make the doodle romp in Davis next weekend but I'm hoping my boyfriend can go since Sierra Vista is supposed to be there....

Yes, there were about 15 people at the Pt Isabel romp today! Not a huge turnout but we had a very nice time. The doodles played and the weather was gorgeous. Was surprised that more people didn't show up! No incidents...everyone just played and had fun.

Did anyone go to the romp today at Pt. Isabel?

Neither of my dogs have ever been in a fight. I think everyone (dogs and humans) are a little cautious when they see their size, but they are pure love. If another dog challenges him, Hondo just goes down on his haunches and waits for them to move on. We go many places off leash and usually only other dogs who are on leash may be confrontive. Maybe something about being on leash??

I can't imagine the owner doesn't know his dog is aggressive but I guess there are many dog owners in denial out there. I agree he has no spine to stay and take responsibility and is probably scared especially that his dog attacked 2 dogs. If he wants to be part of the dog park at least put a muzzzle on the dog and keep him leashed. Then he can socialize his dog safely. Jennifer, I hope Gomit will be ok.

Yes, you are correct. Dogs like the black attacker should NEVER be allowed off-leash when there are other dogs present. Period! The stupid owner probably doesn't even realize that his dog is aggressive. He probably doesn't even know the meaning of the word.

I agree that it is a reality of being in a dog park, but I also think when you know your dog is a risk you should protect your dog and others. I don't think it is that uncommon though, my main hope is that Gromit does not have lasting issues from the attack.
