Woo Hoo!

I clearly remember the first time JD finally peed...I think I did cry, lol!

Standing on the street yelling "Oh, Thank God! Good boy, good pee-pee!"

wow...i can't imagine holding it for that long.  It only took me many (many) trips outside, a dozen bug bites, and 20 hours but he finally went (at 4:30 am) but it was a victory.  I swear, I almost cried.  I was so tired and frustrated and relieved (although probably not as relieved as Oscar was...lol)

When we first start leash pottying Ned each RV trip, it takes him forever to go.  He hates to go when on-leash and holds it for at least 12 - 24 hours.

Jackdoodle went 36 hours without eliminating at all- nothing- when I first brought him home. I thought I would lose my mind. But of course, he finally did, and he's been fine ever since, although he is the type that can really "hold" it forever.

Amy,

Been there.  Many of us have.  It can take awhile.  It will happen.  You may have a few weeks if not a month in some cases of confusion with a lot of issues.   Those pass!   You will get there.   One reason Starlit was named Starlit was because we were outside, under the stars walking around the backyard strolling for hours.

Our case is .. well extreme.  Starlit had been known on several occasions to hold it for 48 hours.  It was a nightmare.   But it is in the past now.  Hope this passes quickly for you too.  I know it will.

Is he seeing Cubbie "going"? That usually helps.

so how long can a dog "hold it"?  We brought our new guy home today and he hasn't "gone" for at least 10 hours.  We keep taking him out but nothing.  :(  We have gone fo 2 walks too and still nothing.

We officially adopted a mini ALD that is being rehomed through the DRC.  I will call his current owner tomorrow and set up a time for us to pick him up.  Hopefully he will become part of our family this weekend.  I keep going from feeling super excited to super nervous.  It has helped to have all the DK posts and discussions to read.

Thanks, guys.  Clancy just goes to show that you CAN teach an adult dog new tricks.
