Is anyone willing to take over organizing the romps and sending out the emails and invitations to the romps. I am no longer able to do it. We have an event scheduled for the 3rd week of december at happy tails
Hello South Florida Doodle Meet-up Group Members!
Please save the date. Sunday November 18 is the 3rd Sunday of the month. Time for our romp! This month is Beau's birthday, so we are meeting at Waterways Dog Park in Avetura, Please take a moment and RSVP.
We now have a Group on FaceBook. I will be migrating information and pictures over to the group. This will give us the ability to "close" the group so that posts may only be seen by members of the group, ensuring a higher degree of privacy....hopefully making some of you more comfortable with it. And all members of the group can post pictures more easily. If you were in contact on FaceBook, I added you as a member of the group.
Canine Splash this weekend!
The dog days of summer may be long gone, but you can still pamper your pooches during the lingering heat of a South Florida fall by letting them frolic at two water parks on dogs-only days. One of Broward County Parks and Recreation’s most popular programs for the past dozen years, the K9 Water Festivals, returns this year with three weekend events in October and another in November. (There will be no events at C.B. Smith Park this year due to renovations at the water park.)
The series kicks off on October 6 and 7 at Castaway Island at T.Y. Park in Hollywood, which also has events on October 20 and 21. Splash Adventure at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach follows on October 27 and 28 and then again on November 10 and 11.
Admission is $5 per dog per 50-minute session, with sessions beginning on the hour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Only dogs weighing 25 pounds or less will be permitted for the final session of each day. Donations of dog and cat food, treats, blankets, and toys will be accepted on behalf of the homeless animals at Broward County shelters.
Broward County Animal Care and Adoption will also be on site with dogs available for adoption.
A few rules apply: All dogs must be off leash when inside the facility and must be sociable and well behaved. Proof of current rabies vaccination and county license tag are required. Other than lifeguards, no humans will be allowed inside the water playgrounds. Finally, dogs are limited to no more than two sessions per day, and dogs must be at least 4 months of age to participate.
For more information, call the park of your choice: Quiet Waters Park at 954-357-5100, or T.Y. Park at 954-357-8811. The parks’ regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50/person (children 5 and under free) will be in effect for these events.
OK...so, here is what is going on. We have heavy thundershowers forecast for tomorrow. So the feeling was that we should reschedule again and shoot for next Sunday the 30th. I hope that this does not inconvenience anyone. I look forward to seeing you all on the 30th!
OK! We are re-scheduling the Romp for next week, Sunday September 23rd. We look forward to seeing you all there! We wish those celebrating Rosh Hashona a sweet year!
so are we on or off for the romp tomorrow? Considering that Ann cannot make it and it is furthermore the eve of Rosh Hashonah, it is my opinion we ought to reschedule for the next week....anybody else got an opinion?
So...I've had someone say that they cannot attend on the 16th because Rosh Hasshana begins that night. Is there anyone else that cannot attend? Should we reschedule?
Our September Doodle Romp will be held Sunday September 16th at 10 am at Happy Tails Dog Park and we will stay no later than 12pm. This romp is open to labradoodles, goldendoodles, shnoodles, poodles (you get the idea) and their non-doodle friends and siblings (we wouldn't want you to leave anybody home). Treats are supplied through the generosity of A Sweet Dog Barkery and will be given out when we are outside the gates as food items are not allowed inside with the dogs. I hope to see you all there! Please share this!
Please check with the road closings before coming to the Romp tomorrow. This whole area is going to be re-directed due to the raising of an overpass on 595 and University. Going to make traffic in this area crazy........
Want to let you know that the 595 and University Roads may need to be avoided for Sunday at the overpass is being raised and parts of these roads will probably be closed. Anyone coming to the romp may need some extra time as local roads will probably be used to get around.
