Training - Experiences, Challenges, and Mindsets

This group provides a "safe place" for members to share their experiences with training, celebrate "big and little successes" and gain insights as we encounter challenges, to support one another, and to explore how our mindset affects our training.

QUESTIONS REGARDING PUPPY BEHAVIORAL CONCERNS (less than 4 mos of age) are better placed in the Main Forum or the Puppy Madness Groups.  Once our Doodles reach the age of four to five months, they are ready to begin their obedience training, and this is the place to share experiences.

I STARTED A NEW CGC COLLAGE, BECAUSE WHEN I ADDED JACK DOODLE AND JAKE THE PICTURES BECAME TOO SMALL TO REALLY SEE....SO NOW WE HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM FOR MORE CGC GRADS!!!!!

Congratulations HATTIE!!!!!

Thanks for sharing that, Karen.  Don't all our dogs have a long list of things they have learned by observation?  Your dog knows what it means when you pick up the car keys or put on your shoes.  They thrive on routine and like to predict what is happening. Years ago we had a dog who learned to climb the fence when she saw DH jump it while the gate was frozen shut.  <sigh>  I'm going to look into this a bit more.

It was an interesting article. My dogs have learned many things without being specifically taught but by repetition of me talking to them and showing them the one that comes to mind right now is "Move over". When they take my spot on the bed they both know what that means and they almost always obey. They do get a thank you : ) but no treat.
