Where's the Poodle in my Doodle?

I think my mini goldendoodle looks more like a golden retriever as well. He does have long hair on top of his head, but no beard or mustache. I saw both of his parents and littermates. Some of them looked more like poodles and some looked more like goldens, you really do get an assortment when you mix the two.

I really hope his coat doesn't change. Everyone loves this fluff ball. I have decided he looks more like a polar bear than a dog of any kind. He is so sweet.

Your doodle is darling, even though he does look more like a retriever. I'm wondering if Teddy's coat will change when he grows up.

Teddy is very fluffy, but doesn't seem to have a 'beard' (the fluffy face). But, that picture of him outside and muddy... ha... looks just like my labradoodle when she gets wet.
Take a look at my Lucy (the goldendoodle) if you want to know where the poodle is in the doodle. She has no beard, no fluffiness, a smooth coat and looks just like a golden except for her color which comes from her whiter standard father. She also has the long poodle legs.
I talked with the breeder and could have sent her back but couldn't. She is a beautiful dog... just not doodly. Compare her to my labradoodle. Even though the breeder still claimed that she was 50-50. Look at her... I say,"No way". Who can know.

I have a stand red f1 golden doodle. The breeder I got him from said the mom a beautiful golden retriever and a white Standard poodle, which we did not see. Teddy looked just like a Teddy bear when we got him at 10 wks. He is now 5 months and weighs 40 lbs. I think he looks more like a golden retriever. I'm sorry but I have not seen a golden doodle without any face hair. When I tell people he is a golden doodle, they reply that he doesn't look like the golden doodles they have seen. I called to ask the breeder a question and never received a response. We love our doodle even if he is more retriever. He is a sweetheart and so smart.

I think you are right, maybe another golden sneeked in....she is a doll though, maybe as she gets a little older you will see some signs. Take a look at Cooper he is definatly a doodle without much poodle.
Can you go back to the breader and inquire?

Wow! I can't believe she never got the 'doodle look', but she is so cute! she even looks more like a yellow lab than a golden.... What can you call her? Hmmm... don't know about the breed specific title, but from her pictures, I'd call her "Lucy the Lovebug"! she is still sooo cute (but I hear ya')

This is Lucy at 12 weeks. She is supposed to be a 50-50 mix. Notice she does not have a beard and looks just like a golden. Much that I have read says that it is not possible to have an entire litter (12 that look just like her...smooth and beardless) from a poodle dad and a golden mom. I am wondering if a goldendoodle dad sneaked in without their knowledge.
I am not going to lie... I am disappointed because Lucy is not what I had wanted for over a year! We have a labradoodle and I had wanted a goldendoodle to look like her. I totally understand the coat changes, etc and the amount of curl, etc. I guess I am most disappointed about her beardless face.
However, if someone is a golden fan...wow... Lucy would be the dog for them.I am trying to work through my disappointment because Lucy is an awesome dog and I love her!
