About Me:
After my husband and I were married we started to think about pets and if we wanted to venture down that path and by January 2010 we decided to add a puppy to our family of 2. So, on July 17, 2010 our Goldendoodle Floyd joined our little family. It was challenging raising a puppy but it was all worth it because we have a great dog who is loving and an amazing addition to our house!
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We have an F1 Goldendoodle named Floyd! He is from Almond Blossom Doodles in Modesto, CA and his parents are Dam Anja and Sire Casey. He is a very sweet and loving puppy who loves to cuddle and meet people and dogs alike! He has grown into a great older puppy!

Weight:
6 weeks: 5.6 lbs

8 weeks: 6.4 lbs

15 weeks: 15.2 lbs

16 weeks (4 months): 17.2 lbs

17 weeks: 18.4 lbs

21 weeks: 22 lbs

24 weeks (6 months): 23 lbs

1 year: 32.6 lbs

1 year 3 months: 35.1 lbs

2 years: 37 lbs
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We met a standard doodle who belongs to a friend from work and just fell in love with him and his temperament and how loving he is and felt it would be a great match for us.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We love playing Fetch/Bring It Back. It gives Floyd great exercise on those non daycare/puppy play date days. We play Puppy Ping Pong on rainy days or training and reinforcing the "Come" command. He LOVES it!!
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
A La Mutt in Toluca Lake, CA for the full service grooming but for basic maintenance we do the grooming.
Favorite Doodle Products?
1. Grooming: I have been really happy with Ice on Ice finishing spray/leave in conditioner. This stuff has been great for Floyd's coat keeping it from getting matted and wet after doggie day care.

2. Treats: Stella & Chewy's Duck Carnivore Crunch- These are Floyd's favorite treats! These work great for training or as an addition to his kibble or as a way to give him pills.
Relationship Status:
Married

Floyd has a cold!!!

Posted on October 15, 2010 at 12:00pm 10 Comments

We now have a 5 1/2 month old puppy. It seems like yesterday we were just entertaining the idea of having a dog and now we have had one for over 3 months! Time is crazy that way. And with time comes the fun puppy development stages! Floyd has been losing teeth consistently now for just over 2 weeks (we've found 3 teeth so far!) So, he's been cranky, tired and not wanting much to eat.

So when he was lethargic and not eating a whole lot last weekend we thought he was…

13 weeks and counting.....

Posted on August 22, 2010 at 1:05pm 4 Comments

It's pretty amazing that it's been 5 weeks since we brought Floyd home. It's for sure gone by fast but at times it feels like it's been years. Overall I have gotten more sleep but I still have not been able to get my full 8 hours that I'm used to so I have begun getting used to feeling just slightly tired all of the time. I'm ready for nap right now as a matter of a fact. With that said, Floyd is learning so quickly I can't believe how far we have come. Going from that feeling of… Continue

Floyd is 10 weeks!

Posted on August 2, 2010 at 10:57am 8 Comments

We survived the first 2 weeks of having a puppy! It's been one of the most challenging times I have ever experienced in my recent history. Floyd is doing great though and learning fast. He has most of the basics down: Sit, Down, Come, Wait and a few others. He gets "Leave It" about 50% of the time without a treat right at his nose. He's a handful for sure and more work than we could have ever imagined. We are learning as we go for sure and figuring out how our daily lives need to change to… Continue

Finally have confirmation!!

Posted on March 15, 2010 at 9:57pm 12 Comments

Wass and I have been really excited about our decision to add a puppy to our little family of 2. We just recently got confirmation from Almond Blossom Doodles that we are on their waiting list for a puppy due between July and August. SO excited!!! We will be visiting Almond Blossom on March 26th. We can't wait to officially begin the adoption process. Good times!

Hello....I know we spoke a while ago regarding allergies.  It seems that Dude is allergic to chicken.  I've cut it out of his diet and he's doing a lot better!  This explains a lot since I fed him tons of chicken as a puppy and he had the runs a lot etc. etc. The vet actually had me boiling chicken and cooking white rice to calm his tummy. I mistakenly fed him some treats with chicken in them a few weeks ago and he had a noticeable reaction which confirmed this allergy even more.  I don't recall who were Floyd's parents, but Dude is an Estee/Casey pup.  Since they are related, perhaps this info. is helpful to you.  Kristi

Hi karina, wass, and floyd! We came across your comment in los Angeles doodles group and stopped by. Your story sounds like ours. My husband and I got married this September and got Zoe late October. We always knew we wanted a Labradoodle but waited until after all the chaos of a wedding. Zoe will get her second round of shots this weekend so she still has a way before she's done but we were wondering if you had any suggestions for dog parks around here (for later). We live in la, south pas area. Who knows maybe someday zoe can meet Floyd too!!

Thank you!  Since Dude is on a special diet I need to hold off on the fish oil, but can't wait to start with that.  My neighbor puts some sort of oil in his dog's shampoo when he get itchy.  He's going to get some for me too.  I'll let you know what it is when I get it and if it helps.  A woman I ran into the other day knows of a goldendoodle who is allergic to meat, so they can only feed it fish protein.....I'll keep you posted and am very interested to hear about Floyd as you learn more.  Kristi

Hello...Dude is very itchy and now on a special kibble for a month to see if it's a food allergy.  I was wondering if you determined that Floyd had any allergies and, if so, what he's allergic to?  Casey is Dude's dad too, so perhaps they've got the same poodle allergies from him....I'm hoping they outgrow this stuff.  Dude is now 9.5 months.  Thanks!  Kristi

Floyd is soooo cute and I am hoping our standard GD Owen grows up to look like him! They have very similar coloring. Owen is from Tulip Tree but I picked him up at Almond Blossom. His sire is Ruben and dame is Babette. Ruben is also the sire of our black standard doodle who is now almost 4. His dame was Molly. Kona is 94 pounds and Owen will be smaller but I am thinking in the 65 pound range. I can't get over how cute Floyd is!

I just got the spray and concentrate. but too bad they won't get here before we board Mochi at kennel. We're going on vacation on 31st and Mochi will be there for a week, he'll come out dirty and stinky :(

wish I found out about ice and ice earlier.

FYI, Mochi was about 40lb when he was 7months old, now he's 53lb.

I'm assuming Floyd would be about 40lb (or 45lb the most) when fully grown? we'll see :)

Hi Karina

Hope you are doing well :)

I read the "Ice on Ice" spray on your page, and did a little research about it, that product sounds magic! I need to get one for Mochi NOW!! I found the website, but was wondering if I could get it at local stores like Petco. Did you get yours from their website?

By the way, Shelly emailed me back and she thinks Anja won't be in heat until summer, so I still have months to wait for, meanwhile, if you could upload some of Floyd's recent pictures that'd be super great! I need to cool down my puppy fever!

Give Floyd a big hug and kisses for me, he's too cute!

I'm so glad Floyd is doing better and good luck in finding what triggers him. It can be a long road but when they start feeling better it's all worth it.  Thank you for the well wishes, Katrina!
