I'm Hooked!

I have been sitting at my desk for the last 6 hours with the intention of getting LOTS of work done!  I have gotten some done but I can't stay away from searching, and reading, and laughing through DK.  I love it. I may never get caught up on my work again...oh well:-)

DOODLE HUSBANDS/DADS UNITE..

I told my DH the other day that he is developing a following! I get so tickled whenever I blog about him and the boys, other DH (doodle husbands) playfully respond referencing that particular post in his defense. Doodle husbands are uniting!

If you read OUR INAUGURAL WEEKEND blog post, you’ve got to remember that although “Doodle Dad” had a outstanding afternoon, he failed to…

Uncanny Resemblance

When Milton was vacationing in Louisiana over the holidays, he was dubbed "Fluffy Tail" by Jeff's little niece.  We thought it fit nicely, so we have added it to his wide repertoire of nicknames.  Besides this new moniker, Milt was also told that he looks like a "Muppet."  At first, I was a bit indignant.  No, my sophisticated, suave goldendoodle bears no resemblance to a silly, singing  Muppet.  Then I started comparing head shots, and there really was no arguing it.…

Pre-Valentine's Day love from my doodle to yours

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so when I woke up to a fresh blanket of snow, I decided to have an impromptu Valentine's Day photoshoot.  I think I'm going to turn this pic into my Valentine's cards this year. :)

Copernicus wants to say thanks to everyone on DK for the great advice, sweet compliments, and constant doodle-spiration!

Hope you're getting ready for a wonderful and love-filled Valentine's Day!…

Let It Snow or Maybe Not!

Friday we were supposed to get snow.  In Pennsylvania when the weather forecasters call for snow, everyone and their mother runs to the store to buy milk, bread, and toilet paper.  I had an excuse, however, to be up at the store buying the same things and it had nothing to do with the weather.  I really was out of all three.  Trust me when I say if I thought I was going to be snowed in for a long period of time my grocery list would include ingredients for baking cookies, frozen pizzas, and…

The final week--then puppies! UPDATE!!

We are now in the final countdown with 8 days to go until Lyric has her puppies--for those of you who are interested here is what I am doing--today, i set up the whelping box and got all the equipment and towels, etc ready to go. I shaved Lyric's belly today, preferring to do it while she is still comfortable and not in labor. Saturday we go to the reproductive vet for Xrays to do a puppy count. Lyric has gained 8 pounds so that COULD mean 8 pups. (about 3/4 to 1 pound per…

Demolition and Renovation!

Jeff and I need a LOT of help with this house and who better to help us than Jeff's parents, Momeaux and Pop!  This past weekend, the in-laws showed up with a saw, tool belt, and multiple measure tapes!  Oh, yeah and one of these for Jeff and me:…

Puppy Photo of the Week

One of the very best parts about our daycare, Downtown Dog, is they will periodically post photos on Facebook of your pet.  It is actually particularly cruel because you see what a ball your dog is having while you are toiling away at work.  Last week, this was the photo that Jeff and I observed:…

TWO DELIVERIES: ONE FROM ABOVE AND ONE FROM UPS…

First delivery? – SNOW!

Although it wasn’t much, it was enough for the boys to enjoy. And best of all – it was a “beautiful thing” to watch as it came down, and a “beautiful thing” to know it had disappeared by the next morning (there is a God!).

As soon as I bundled up and opened the garage door, Leo gathered his balls together to let me know after our walk we were going to play a while……

Another Snow Storm, Darwin Loves It!

Well, the temperature has gone up to a toasty 30 degrees and the snow has started to fall. Darwin is loving it, he wants to be out romping in the snow constantly!

Coming off of the beginning of school, having colds, and just being busy in general, we haven't been able to let him have a really good romp, only for a few minutes here or there. Today was no exception unfortunately. I wanted to let him out for a few minutes because he doesn't usually get to play when the snow is actually…

Our New Rescue

We learned about this approximately 9-month old Maltipoo who was in the Morena Valley, California (near Riverside) Animal Shelter.  She had not been adopted because she was too ragged and filthy and she was too scared in the shelter to allow their volunter groomer to work on her.  So it was a "Catch-22" no adoption out of the shelter until she was clean and no bath as long as she was in the shelter and scared stiff...…

Rainy Day Puppy Blues

Another weekend arrived with lots of wet, sloppy rain.

I’m a mud puppy at heart, but my mom is not overly fond of this trait and decided to try and entertain me inside instead.

I played with lots of toys, but these are not as interesting as grass and sticks and the smells of the outdoors.…

If I Had a Million Collars

Well guess what I got in the mail today from the very lovely and talented Hazel (and Chester Waite)?  Two custom made dog collars and a leash!  We were chatting on yappy hour a couple of weeks ago and I asked my fellow Canadian if she would make me something for Gavin.  You see Gavin has been jealous of Vern and all of the snazzy new collars he has been sporting.  After a couple of emails, I picked out some material and asked Hazel to make us something…

I had to Fire my Assistant Photographer!

I have never had any interest in photography.  When my kids were younger, I was the mother at every event that never had a camera.  I just always thought I would rather live the experience than see it through the viewfinder of a camera.  When our first daughter was born I did take lots of pictures of her, but by the time the second one came along it just seemed like there were not enough hours in the day to get everything done, let alone pull out the camera and snap pictures.  At some point,…

Little Known Secrets of Doodles

If you do not own any sort of doodle, golden-, Labra-, or Aussie-, you might not be aware of some of their odd, little eccentricities.  We certainly did not know until we had Milton home for a few months.  Now we are more than aware of all the little unique features that make the Milt, Milt.

1.  Last week when Jeff picked up Milton from daycare, he was informed that Milton was having trouble keeping himself clean down there.  Of course, I was the one to check the Milt dog…

WATER WORK-OUT AT OTPR

I read once that “swimming” was supposed to be great exercise for dogs. I don’t think they meant this…

Both boys love the beach, and we try to grant them their wish by running away to a warmer climate for one week during the summer. But what about the other 51 weeks in the year? You can visit umpteen sites on the internet and read about the…

Motherhood

Motherhood (of a human that is) continues to be a wild ride for me - and better than I could have dreamed.  Two months ago, when crying was peaking and I was in a fog, I would have maybe not said this.  But even though things are still crazy and stressful, Charlotte's little personality is coming out and I couldn't be happier being a mom to a little human girl!

Charlotte turned 4 months on Monday.  We get her vaccinations on Friday and I will discuss starting solid foods with…
