How many of you remember that classic “Sammy Davis, Jr.” song THE CANDY MAN?
If you do, you know that it has a very catchy tune and happy lyrics … (come on sing along….)
Who can take a sunrise (who can take a sunrise)
Sprinkle it with dew (sprinkle it with dew)
Cover it with choc’late and a miracle or two
The Candy Man (the Candy Man)
Oh, the Candy Man can (the Candy Man can)
The Candy Man…

I have posted about how Chester is scared to go out to do his business at night.
He pees on the lawn but likes to poo on the side of the road. Lately he has been nervous and won't go down the road- and sometimes he takes his favourite bear out. We live outside Halifax and have woods with animals and our yard isn't fenced.
I have gotten a lot of support from the wonderful network on DK and I am working on some of the suggestions. It is nice to know we aren't alone.
It was…

So, for a few years I have been toying with the idea of joining a host travel agency and basically having my own travel business. I have been a corporate international agent for 20+ years now and I always have a lot of people ask me for vacations, etc. and I refer them to a friend of mine. I really don't like doing any and all travel people ask for (ok could I be a little pickier?) and I got this idea from a friend who is an independent agent that specializes and only does Disney bookings. …

As many of you know, my mom is going to see Neil Diamond in July. Because there is going to be a great deal of walking and my mom refuses to use a walker, she had started exercising at the beginning of January. She always says she doesn’t want to use a walker due to her pride, but we have, on more than one occasion, tried to remind her what they say about “pride goeth before the fall.” The funny thing is she will not use a walker, but insists on having a shopping cart when we go into any…

I finally got some photos of Finn in his new home. I have to admit I am more than a little jealous. I think he is living my dream life.

Hi Everyone
You have all been so great. With your support Paz moved into 4th place yesterday. Please remember to go to this link and vote everyday through February 28th. The three pets with the most votes wins. I'm hoping if Paz wins, I can help promote http://bit.ly/ztPdFf the wonderful work being done by doodles who are therapy dogs and the amazing healing power of the human-dog connection. If you have trouble with this link, please…

So the other day Smudge and I went to my sisters for a play date with her Daisy doodle. Now my sister usually comes here with Daisy for play dates, but Smudge and I went there instead because she needed help moving some furniture. So Daisy and Smudge were playing and running and having a blast when I looked over and on the bench by the window was her cat, Sassy just snoozing away. I said to my sister, "Smudge hasn't seen Sassy there yet, I wonder how she will act…

Love those Monday holidays. On Sunday nights though, I usually pack "way too much" enthusiasm into them. I try to stay up much later than normal, consume more junk food than I should as I flip channels and curse the television networks for putting absolutely NOTHING worthwhile on TV. I mean “come-on”, with most of…

The breeder and I met today to take some "glamour shots" of some of the puppies that she is keeping in her program. It was hard work, but what a result! Enjoy!
Our tiny black male--he is so cute--this is "Star" named after Joanne's dear departed "Starlit" --this guy has a big personality in his tiny body. You can just barely see the small bit of white on his chest.…

Ah, me! It's been so long since I posted here on DoodleKisses! This last year seems to have gotten away from us, but please don't think we've deserted you. While I haven't been that active here lately, the pups and I have lurked on a regular basis and stayed in touch with those of you who have been so nice to email and comment on our page.
To give you an update, here's what went on in our lives in 2011:
- My husband was diagnosed with a recurrence of prostate…

In December of 2010, my SIL met Cubbie and it was love at first sight. They already had 1 dog (a female black lab) but she told my brother that she had to have a doodle too. He just laughed at her but I don’t think he realized just how contagious doodles can be. They got married in September 2011 and they decided that they were going to wait a year before the considered getting another dog, but again they didn’t realize how contagious doodles can be. As of February 20, 2012 they have…

Wilson and Murphy had a playdate today with Wilson's littermate, his sister, Indie and Murphy's full brother from a different litter, Tyler. All four have the same daddy so they are all siblings/half siblings. It was almost too much cuteness for me to handle. They are all so sweet, smart and cute. Wilson's sister is Murphy's color and Murphy's brother is Wilson's color. Whole bunch of cuteness :) Now if only it had not been 34 degrees and raining.…

Halas here. The weather has been great here this weekend, and I got to spend a lot of time outside. Yesterday afternoon, my mommy took me on part of her run. It was really fun, but it made me tired, and it made my hair look like this:
OK, fine. My hair looks like this a lot. But I'm blaming the jogging this time.
Today, we went for a nice,…

Please vote for me (Paz) in the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals Photo Contest as the "Quintessential NYC Pet". I am a two year old Australian Labradoodle and a Delta registered pet therapy dog. I work at the NYC Family Justice Center in Brooklyn (BKFJC); the Center serves victims of domestic violence and their children. My human mommy, Charley, is Director of Children's Services at the Center, and I accompany her to work every Friday. I love my job as a therapy dog, because it…

Houdini Dog Strikes Again:
I went into the living room yesterday, and couldn't figure out why there was a half a small bag of M&M's on the floor. Looked under dining table, and there were bits of gum wrappers and torn napkins. Didn't take Columbo to figure it was Riley, getting into my wife's jacket pocket. She always has treats, candy and gum in her jacket pockets. Other than knowing where items came from, there was no physical evidence left at the scene. My wife's jacket…

Well as some of you know I have been on a desperate search for a new Vet for Daisy.
Because of her extreme shyness and fear to new situations and people I have gotten "less" than what I would expect from Vets. One went as far as saying "Wooooooo", for a long time and putting his hands up and backed off, when she barked at him giving Daisy complete control over the situation. This Num nut and his technician (who rolled her eyes) put a towel over her eyes to shoot the Bordetella vaccine…

This morning while I was folding laundry my mind started wandering, no big news there. I started to think about how long I have been on DK. I feel like I actually know many of you well. I talk about some of you all the time (all good) in my daily life. On Yappy hour last night a few of us mentioned how our DH's knew names of people and doodles like they were family. They have asked about so and so when things have gone wrong. My husband checked in to see if Guiness was feeling better. My…
