I just left Haley at the vet's for surgery. Besides the intestinal blockage discovered last week he has a rock approximately 3 centimeters in size in his stomach that has not moved since last Friday. Leaving Haley was one of the hardet things I have had to do.

Please pray that all goes well with the surgery and Haley has a quick and complete recovery.

Lucy and I attended the 2010 Bark For Life on Sat. It was to storm all day and it turned out to be a gorgeous day. In fact, 85 degress to be exact!!! There were about 100 dogs there and Lucy was the ONLY doodle! Boy did she get the attention of everyone. She did fabulous in the games. She won the Musical Sit which is sort of like a mini obediance and came in second in the hurdles. I was very proud of her. We had a great time and it was for a great… Continue

Beemer is doing very well....but his hair cut is another story.....thanks for all the support.....

Poor Abby - she isn't a fan of being brushed so I had a tendency to let her have her way and left the brush in the cupboard. Well, I went to TRY to brush her out and found that she was nothing but mats!! I'm so bad!!! So I had to take the clippers to her. Grabbing one blade, it wouldn't go thru her coat. So I grab a larger number and that wouldn't go thru either. By the time I found a blade that would go thru her, she was naked!! PINK naked!! I have resorted to the last option for stopping the dogs' bad habit of chasing deer: a shock collar. I bought a sportsdog 1850 collar that comes with a beeper attachment. I've never wanted to use shock collars and I only agreed to try this out because nothing else works and Temple Grandin says it's ok. I am scared my dogs will get hurt or lost when chasing deer and other critters (including bears and cougars) on our mountain. Their prey drives have gotten so strong that they just can't help…

This morning started out as every other morning; let the dogs out, let them back in and then feed everyone. Brogan and Harlow get fed in the dinning room. Baxter and Sherlock in the kitchen. Black cat, Moonshine got his morning can of cat food in the garage and Cleo had her dish on top of the frig. After that the morning routine changed. I usually do not do blog posts like this, but the situation in the Middle TN area is devastating. It will not stop raining, flooding is everywhere. I have had 4 best friends basically lose their houses - one with 3 dogs and a newborn baby. All are safe at this point. We are safe, including dogs and my family is safe. But interstates are flooded, people are stranded - it is unprecedented.

Wilbur's new daddy drove all the way from Ohio to Atlanta on Friday. He and I spoke during the week to plan the big meeting (I greatly appreciated this - I am a planner and don't really like to fly by the seat of my pants!). I have been trying to get back into jogging over the past couple months. Clark even got me a jogging stroller.... I've taken Natalie on a few jogs. And I've taken Rosco and Natalie on a few jogs. Just watching and enjoying the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Some very interesting looking dogs. I have come to the conclusion that like our doodles after a bad groomer visit, some of these dogs must be very embarassed by their cuts. I believe Quincy is thinking "please don't ever do that to me".
