We use to have the less expensive baby gates, the kind you have to take down or step over if you wanted to go from one room to another. Then DH tripped over one, fell and broke his shoulder. After most of a Saturday in the emergency room, 2 visits to the orthopedic surgeon and a CT scan those gates have turned out to be more expensive than the original purchase price! We are now in the process of replacing them with the walk through type.…

Harlow went to the groomer today. Same groomer, third visit, but a totally different doodle came home today. Not sure what the groomer was thinking, maybe she forgot that Harlow wasn’t a poodle. From the top of Harlow’s head to the just-about pomp of her tail, she looks like a poodle. So much like one in fact, I could probably get an ILP from the AKC. I am going to have to find a good picture of a good doodle clip and keep it with me!

Oh, the thrill of working in IT. Here it is, almost 1:00 AM EST and I have been sitting on the phone for over an hour facilitating a production outage call. We are at the point in the call where the only sound is that of mad tapping of fingers on keyboards and muttered expletives of frustrated programmers
So I thought I would use the opportunity to surf DK. =)
Harlow and I have signed up for an intermediate obedience class that starts on 9/20. And joy of joys, the…

The Boys both had to have minor surgery today. Baxter to remove a mole from his flew and Sherlock a sebaceous tumor (warty looking thing) from his right rear leg. I am told both moles and sebaceous tumors are quite common in older Beagles (the Boys are almost 9). We took the Boys to the vet because both mole and wart appeared about 3 months ago and were growing. We wanted to make sure it was nothing serious.
Anyway, both had to be sedated to remove growths and are rather groggy…

When Harlow joined the family in May, at 14 weeks, she was 21# and 17" at the shoulder. She is now a little over 6 months old. I weighed and measured her this morning; she just topped 40# and stands 21" at the shoulder. Her breeder estimated she would grow to somewhere between 50 - 55# and 22 - 25" at the shoulder. Harlow still has 'lots of paw' to grow into so I think she may go to the high side of the breeders estimate.
