Wow! It has been a little over 2 weeks since we brought Norman to his forever family. I've been meaning to sit down and post for a while now, but we've been trying to get back to our pre-Norman schedule & it has been a little bit of an adjustment.
We had him two months, so he had plenty of time for his skin to heal. We're definitely missing him at our house, but we could not have asked for a better family for him!
He has a new big brother, a Great Pyrenees, and a new…

You are 2 today and I'm so proud of you. You brought so much joy and happiness into our house in those two years. I'm looking forward to returning all the love and attention you gave us each and every day for many years to come. You are so precious, my big boy, I LOVE YOU!
The day we brought you home:

This was one of the first pictures I saw of Jack, not the first..but close.... Who could not fall madly in love... When I looked at that picture, I had mad love for him and mad fear.. Fear that I had no idea what I was going to do with a live creature that pee's and poops...
I never grew up with dogs... being an OCD person I couldn't imagine how he would mix into my…

It’s Sunday morning and we’re headed to church – I stop by my daughters room and ask her to “feed the boys” for me. It is way too early for them to eat and if I fix it and leave, they won’t touch it!
A mere 90 minutes later, all my plans for the rest of the day go right out the window…. Instead I am playing stay at home vet nurse to Leo.
Please – read on…
When we arrive home from church, we find the boys and Tiffany sitting in the foyer on the floor looking like…

Sunday morning my Dad goes to town and brings home Sunday news papers. While he is gone Mom gets their coffee ready and sits on the floor with me for some quality time while waiting for Dad to get back. Then they have coffee and read the paper and I have a GOOD chew on my skineeze!
After that, it's play fetch!!!…

Beasley is almost 8 years old. As the first dog I've ever owned, I probably could have chosen an easier time with a smaller, less hyperactive, dog (but who knew)?! I am not much more than 5ft 2". When I sit next to Beas on the floor, he towers over me! On ice, he can pull me along quite easily. For this reason, being able to confidently handle such a large beast was essential and so over the years, numerous attempts have been made to improve Beasley's manners.
Formal obedience…

I just got off the phone with my daughter in Oregon and somehow, the topic got around to our dogs. My daughter does not like me to give her any advice when it comes to her dogs and if I mention that I learned it on DoodleKisses, it just starts trouble. Why I don’t learn to keep my mouth shut might be a whole other blog, but tonight when she said they might have to switch her dog’s food due to allergies, I did it again and offered her some advice. Basically, both my kids think I know very…

I was walking my Goldendoodle, Sky when an empty plastic bag blew across our path. He swore it was alive and hid behind me!

Today in Jacksonville was the annual Trail of Tails to support the Humane Society.
As we were leaving there was a man who walked towards us with a goldendoodle that looked much like Bailey. I asked him how old he was and he said he was 9 months. I asked him where he got him from and he mentioned a small town close by. I always think if I see a doodle that looks like Bailey that they might be related..Any way...
The guy tells me that he has a trainer that is…

Yes that is Jack in a pot, trying to "bloom where he is planted" Actually he was soaking up some sun. That is my theme lately... I am trying to go with the flow, bloom where I am planted even if I hate and despise the situations I am in. I choose to try to find the good, the flowers through the weeds.. and I guess Jack does too
I feel like I wanted to write on…

Thanks everyone for your best wishes for my dad, he seems to be OK although he is a little slower than he was and mum says that I mustn't jump on him, which is a shame because dad and I used to love a rough and tumble when he came home from work.
Christopher told mum today that he has booked a week in the New Forest for dad, mum and ME, Hurray its my favourite place in the WHOLE world, all that open space.................... can't wait!!!

As Paul Harvey used to say, "And now for the rest of the story..."
Early this year, through the Raw Feeding group on this website, I ran across the Yahoo Raw Meaty Bones discussion group. I joined and "lurked" for a while, reading the posts. I have to say, I was totally intimidated by the idea of switching Paddy to a diet of nothing but meat and bones. Like most dog owners, I was raised on the idea that bones, especially chicken bones, are bad for dogs. So how could he eat them…

Paddy and I have taken a long, circuitous route to get to this point. When he first came to live with us, at 8 weeks old in 2008, he was on some premium brand puppy kibble, and he graduated from there to the adult version. I was careful to give him grain-free, quality kibble. After feeding Purina One to my last dog, it was a revelation to me -- all the new, organic, healthy kibbles were just amazing.
We stuck with this diet for two years. And then, in the midst of my sister's…

Sorry for not adding to my blog for sometime, but my dad has been very, very poorly and poor mum had been rushed off her little feet. Luckily dad is now back at home and mum says he's making good progress. He was admitted to hospital last April (2011) with something called Guillain Barre syndrome and stayed in hospital for ages. Mum visited everyday, I wished I could have gone as well, but someone had to stay and look after the house mum said. Still, when she came back she took me for a…
