It Began with Neil Diamond and Barry Manilow is Next!!

Last year, around this time, I did a couple of blogs about my mother and her strong desire to see Neil Diamond in concert.

Recipe for a Pupsicle

To begin, start with one goldendoodle and add 20 inches of fresh, clean, new fallen snow.

Mix well for two minutes.

(Please accept my apologies for the orientation of this video. The Road Warrior left town with the camera, so I had to resort to my iphone for video. I held the phone wrong. Click on the little square at the bottom right of the video to view full screen, and hit escape to return.)…

Poor Oliver...

Well, it has been 5 weeks now since i fell and broke my arm in 3 places. I don't think I could do it again if I tried.  It was such a freak accident, nobody's fault but my own.  the breaks are up near the shoulder, so it couldn't be casted, sling only.  I am a righty, and broke my left arm, but u can't believe how much u use your other hand and arm.  I  can't dress myself, take a shower by myself, and can't wear anything but something that buttons down the front. Ugh, I feel so bad for DH,…

A Girl's Best Friend

This past weekend, I had plans to visit the First Monday Trade Days in the nearby town of Canton.  This is a magnificent flea market spanning across many, many acres of farmland.  People set up booth upon booth of their antiquey wares, and sometimes junk, for the public's perusal.  I was introduced to this event by two of my good friends, a pair of sisters, and I now tend to go once or twice a year to see what treasures can be found!  I always manage to come home…

The longest why did the chicken cross the road joke you will ever hear!

The question has been asked many many many times before.  I'm sure we've all heard it,  it's known as the oldest joke in the book!  But why DID the chicken cross the road?  I mean,  we aren't the chicken, so we can't really ever know why.  But here is my favorite theory,  courtesy of someone on the internet.

One day my uncle was sitting on his couch watching TV,  when all of a sudden, an ostrich jumped out from behind…

THE SNOW CAME ANYWAY

Go back in time for a moment, not too far – 2006 will do.

Do you remember a book called “The Secret?” It was a best-selling “self-help” book written by Rhonda Byrne. Based on the law of attraction and that “positive thinking can create life-changing results such as increased wealth, health, and happiness.”

No disrespect to those that believe – but I’ve carried positive thoughts all winter that we wouldn’t get snow but it happened! The snow came.  Wet,…

Lyric's 4 wk old pups-Sweet VIDEO!! UPDATE

I posted a video on Youtube today of the puppies playing and settling in for a nap--I don't want to jinx it, but these guys are so sweet and play so quietly! Make sure you have the volume up though so you can hear the tiny yawn at the beginning--then there is some fun music from Yo-Yo Ma and others--the CD called Goat Rodeo Sessions--They will probably sue me---oh dear...

The puppies are now getting their teeth and eating three times a day! Lyric is enjoying some time to…

What Happens to a Toy Chewed Up?

Currently my seventh grade writing students are immersed in a poetry unit, which has been a lot of fun!  In class, we recently read Langston Hughes's "What Happens to a Dream Deferred?"  Here are the lines to it if you do not recall:

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up

like a raisin in the sun?

Or fester like a sore--

And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?

Or crust and sugar over--

like a syrupy…

Darwin Update: Enjoying the Last of Winter (Him Not Me)

Well, we have had a very busy couple of weeks! Lots of school and family stuff and work! Luckily this weekend things calmed down, Darwin was anxious to get out and play! Here is another huge batch of Darwin photos,  I find him so hilarious and adorable when he gets the zoomies like this, it makes it hard to narrow down photos

I HOPE that winter is on it's way out and we won't get any more snow at this point, so I wanted to go let him play in it  before it all melts for good.…

A couple pics from my chocolate tasting party yesterday.  We had a total of 9 of us at my house while my fabulous hubby took the kids for a trip to a Dr. Suess day event in town.

It was super fun and I highly recommend hosting a…

Benders 1ST Birthday -- WEEKEND!

Hi All,

Friday was unofficially Benders FIRST birthday! I say unofficial because he was born Feb 29, 2012 and there was no 29th day on the calendar for February this year.

DH and I love him SO much and can't believe he's already a ONE YEAR OLD! He has grown so much in one year.…

HARLEY AND THE BEANSTALK

Often times I forget just how large Leo really is…

I mean I spend an enormous amount of time with him and after a while, it doesn’t register. Every now and again, I’ll see him with someone else and think “that’s a big dog!”

Whenever he and Harley are playing, poor Harley has to rely on “street tactics” to muscle him down. He’ll…

We are having problems in the bedroom . . .

Haha - not what you think!! I had surgery two weeks ago. (I'm ok) When I returned from the hospital my DH moved to the couch with his COUGH and C-Pap machine so I could sleep better.  Since DH has moved back to the bed, Bodi has been a major pest!!  Bodi goes to bed with me, gets back up to spend time with DH in the living room, goes out for one more potty and then sleeps on the floor in the bedroom.  All good . . . until about 5 am. (our normal time to get up when I go to work)  Then Bodi…

We're back!!

Hi everyone!  Just wanted to post a blog to check in and apologize for my absence from DK.  Things have been crazy here at home (good crazy..but still crazy nonetheless lol).  About a month ago we began a home remodeling project (changing the basement from man cave to playroom for our 10 month old son).  My husband is still mourning the loss I think lol.  But anyway, that remodeling project came with lots of unexpected twists and turns and made for a much bigger project than we…

Lyric hanging with the pups

We had a relaxed feeding session last night--Lyric is not usually one to dawdle and leaves the whelping room when the pups are fed--but I sat in there with her last night and there was a sweet half hour of eating and cuddle time before the pups nodded off-she is a much more relaxed momma this time around --got some cute pics....…

Daddy says no Doodle sister! How mean can you be!

This past Saturday daddy took mommy and I to see my breeder, my doodle mommy 1 brother and 3 sisters. They are 10 weeks old! When mommy got me she really wanted a lavender doodle but all were spoken for, for some litters to come. So mommy visited me a couple of times and even thought I was shy she took me home for a home visit last August and could not let me go back to finish my training. Well back to my visit one sissy, Lil Lina, doesn't have a home she is a nummy yummy chocolate and the… Continue

Excavation

Yup, Jeff is still working away on that fence of ours.  The back wall is now completely finished, and he built a mighty fine gate for it last weekend.  Quite frankly, I am proud of all his hard work.  Arriving at this house, we both knew next to nothing about home repairs, and now I feel like we have really learned an awful lot about houses and all that comes with them!

Next up on the docket is the side fence, so Jeff (with my help!) dug out the old cemented fence posts that were…
