Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have a ALD who is a breeding female, about 2 1/2 years old, Dolly. She is in her first week of her 3rd heat cycle. We did nothing the first cycle but the second time, the breeder drove 3 hours each way to pick up a male for Dolly's first hot date. Well, my little Dolly must be related to "Vern" cuz she's afraid of a lot of things and is pretty nervous about other dogs. A few days before the big day, she started flagging her tail at Tura, our other female Labradoodle so I knew the…

After a week of being a quiet doodle after Thanksgiving Haley has gone in the opposite direction this week. First, he is the "energizer doodle" wanting to fetch his ball constantly. My arm is getting sore!
Monday he got overly excited about the tractor parked beside our property and when I called him he came running in his excited/prancing full speed ahead pace and spun me around and knocked me down. I landed on my back. My ankle got twisted and is swollen but does not hurt. The…

Jeff and I finally bit the bullet, and we bought a YARD for the Milt! Ok, we bought a house...! As the post title alludes, why is it a gingerbread house? Well, take a look for yourself.…

Having you tell us which photos of the boys were your favorite was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long, long time.
If it were up to me, I would have missed the holiday deadline, still contemplating on which photo to choose and whether or not it was appropriate to send Valentine’s Day cards…

So I checked my page today and noticed that I am A Hopeless Doodle Addict at last! I have been on DK for more than two years now, but am more of a comment person than a blog person, not like Laurie some people. I was so excited to see that I finally have the honor of being HDA. All kidding aside this place has been a source of knowledge thanks to some wonderful people. A source of comfort when going through hard times. And last but not…

As of last Wednesday, Milton is officially neutered, and what an ordeal it was. After our poor experience with the SPCA (who never returned my phone call!), we decided to go to our routine veterinarian who we know and trust. This is probably what we should have done in the first place instead of trying to cut costs. Oh well, you live and you learn! We won't make the same mistake with our next pup.
Milton was dropped off bright and early, to welcoming arms, at the vet's office,…

I have two OLDER sisters. They love to travel. I have two dogs and my sisters have none and I often wonder if therein lies the difference between our adventurous spirits. I am perfectly content to stay home with my dogs and have no real desire to see the Seven Wonders of the World. Based on the definition of wonder in the dictionary, One that arouses awe, astonishment, surprise, or admiration; a marvel…The emotion aroused by something awe-inspiring, astounding, or marvelous…An event…

Milton and I recently made a grand discovery of a small local dog park only 1/2 mile walk, 10 minutes away from our apartment. The "park" is actually a unique situation because it is a vacant corner lot that is owned by the house next door, and to prevent development, the home owners have generously allowed four-legged pals to run free there. The park has a wonderful community feel as tennis balls, chairs, and water dishes are left outside, visitors drag the trash to the curb, and the…

A few months ago through doodle daughter’s connections (translation: idle chit chat while at work!), she learned about Bark Box! Since then, (it’s been about 9 weeks now) I am able to elect “not to” enter into a pet store dragging one doodle, while the other drags me – in search of a new toy.
Not sure what happens at your house, but toys are subject to much torture over here and they eventually wind up in the trash can. I just can’t seem to catch the rhythm of two dogs in a…

My dog, Husker and I were one of the winners for purchasing a 2013 Doodles' calendar. We picked the goody box from PetFlow with surprise treats and items for Husker. It arrived last week with all kinds of treats, shampoo, and toys that Husker loves!
Thank-you Doodle Kisses.com!

Hey friends! I have continued to be so busy and barely have time to come online anymore. I don't know how moms stay at home...it's the hardest job on earth! I respect my own mother so much more now that I have a human child.
Last Monday…

Mr. Gibbs is a goldendoodle service dog who carries little Alida's heavy oxygen tanks in a special harness. Alida needs oxygen to breath and Mr. Gibbs follows her everywhere carrying her tanks. I am so proud of this brave little girl and her doodle hero companion...…

A parody of the poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement C. Moore
The Spirit of Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas and all we could see
Was the wreck of the presents unwrapped ‘neath the tree.
The stockings which hung from the chimney with care
Were missing, the mantel now empty and bare.
The tree, how it twinkled, was down on its side.
The star, not so merry, was cracked open wide.
The…

When I graduated from college and moved to my very first apartment in Boston, I decided that I should represent my foray into adulthood by sending sophisticated Christmas cards (homemade resplendent with stickers) to all my family and friends announcing that I was out on my own. Five years later, I am still on that kick. If you are a member of my immediate family, newly acquired immediate family, or one of a select group of friends, you know that I mail cards for almost every holiday -…

The last time I was online was about two months ago; my Mom (who was 91) had been in and out of the hospital and I was going over to see her (six hours each way). Unfortunately, she continued to have serious health issues and passed away at the end of October. The end came so quickly, which was good for her, that I was unable to make it back over when she passed. My Cousin was with her and we were talking on the phone when Mom closed her eyes and slipped away.
Rusty had a checkup two…

I was such a proud “doodle mom”, the boys actually listened to my commands (in public), which made me truly look like the “alpha doodle!”
I am crazy about the photos, and this year I really want one of them on the front of our family Holiday Card, but…

Yesterday Bella was spayed. Thank goodness for our vet, Dr. Gross! As usual he made this procedure much less stressful because he picked up our Bella girl at our home around 9:00 a.m. and took her to his office to do the operation. Around 11:30, I received a text message saying "Bella is out of surgery, still sleepy, but out of surgery". Obviously, this was a relief for me to know my baby had done well "under the knife". He texted me again to let me know what time he would bring Bella…

Lily Grace had an evaluation yesterday for day camp. I thought that this would be a opportunity for her to play her same species. She thinks I am a dog and she was very frustrated over the holiday when her cousins would not play with her.
Her trainer runs the day camp and separates the dogs by the way they play so she wanted to see Lily around other dogs. I was warned to wear old clothes and to expect Lily to get dirty. I had no idea what dirty actually was. When we…
