Most of you know of my struggles with Bella and poop. She started eating hers from the day she came at 10 weeks old. We tried Everything possible to stop it. She's got "leave it" down like a champ. Problem is I have to be out there to catch her. We got a house with a huge back yard to be able to let them out and have fun playing and frolicking, not for me to stand out there on guard.
We thought staying on top of all the poop disposal would solve the problem, but then we noticed she is not only eating hers, she started eating Murphy's, while its still warm! So we have to be really on top of getting out there to catch it. I know, really gross. The only thing that keeps me sane through this is Knowing my dogs poops are healthy and free of too many germs.
Except today she has totally crossed the line......as I was watering plants out front and letting them romp around, she found ANOTHER dogs poop in the yard, and decided to roll, and roll and flop and rub herself all over in it. OMG! The smell! And of course I had just given her a bath Friday. Thank goodness I also shaved her down really close so with hose in hand she got a quick shower. This is new and beyond disgusting to me.
I don't know how much more poop I can take. I really think I should just rehome her to a farmer and let her just have a heyday with all kinds of manure, cuz obviously she loves poop more than keeping me from loosing my mind!
Kidding of course, but does anyone feel my pain out there? I post this in total jest as in light of all that's happened in our country this past week, and with some of our own dear members health, I am truely appreciative that this is the biggest problem in my life right now.

Sue, No advice here either, but I feel for you. This would be very hard. Good luck!

Gail, Your story makes me sad. I feel so sorry for that poor dog and I am very happy she ended up with you.

I have done pineapple, apple sauce, and forbid and other medications in her food, hot hot sauce on the poop, aversion training with loud "NO" , water squirt bottles, tell her how disgusting it is, brush her teeth, wash her face none too softly, chase her away from it, leave toys all around so she is not bored. Adrienne, the vet had done blood work ( mostly because I needed to prove how healthy they were with home cooking, but it was all fine), they are on good food, home cooking, and raw diets. They only get home made treats, no junk ever. If they are lacking in vitamins then I would be shocked. My breeder feels that Bella just is doing what her mommy taught her to do to protect the litter, and clean up after her puppies. Gail, I think the poop slurry would definitely have me insane. She threw up poop once and it came out just like it went in, so it was an easy clean up.
Sherri, don't tempt me. I really think she would think she went to poopy heaven. I appreciate everyone's sympathy and stories. At least I don't feel alone. I'm just pooped! Lol

I've heard that feeding the dogs pineapple makes it less appealing!   Maybe try feeding them both pineapple as a treat after every meal.

My sister added pineapple juice to her dog's food - worked for her.

I'm sorry, Sue. No ideas here, just lots of sympathy.

Have you discussed this with your vet?  I have read that this can sometimes be a health issue:  vitamin deficiency, thyroid problem, parasites, etc.

I am truly hoping that things get better for you.

I once had a dog that I "rescued" from a breeder. This dog was a champion show dog and after the breeder/owner finished her as a  champion, she bred her for puppies for a couple years before deciding to spay her, and get rid of her.  At 4 years of age this poor dog had been flown all over the country for shows and then kept for breeding in confined spaces.  Needless to say, she had issues!  The worst of the issues was poop eating.  She would actually hide in the yard to poop and eat it real fast.  Then the worst.....she would come inside to drink water and throw it up in a slurry on the rug...or the furniture!  I do not need to tell you how bad this smelled or how imposible it was to clean up.  I am glad I had a friend who ran a carpet cleaning business because he was on my speed dial!!  We tried the powder enzyme that you add to food and it did not deter her.  I had to shut down her dog door and be the poop police every time I let her out.  She never stopped trying....I won the battle by being on guard and quicker than she was.  I like the idea of aversion training!!  Sure wish I had thought of that at the time!!!  Good luck!  I feel your pain!

Wow-I feel for you. Our doodles have done a lot of naughty things, but thankfully poop isn't one of them! Don't feel bad, we have a fenced in yard and have to leash them to take them out or they will find trouble.

Oh, I just read the e-collar tip.  Hmmmm I am going to tell my dil about that.  Seriously, it is worth a try.

My dil's female does this too including the other dog's as he is going. (Geez, how can you watch everything?) She has tried so many things but all have been without success.  I am sure she feels your pain.

Ned rolls in whatever he finds when we go to dog parks - yuck and more yuck.  If he tries to roll when we are on a walk, at least I can tug on the leash and prevent it but when he is loose - I can't stop him.
