Sue, No advice here either, but I feel for you. This would be very hard. Good luck!
Gail, Your story makes me sad. I feel so sorry for that poor dog and I am very happy she ended up with you.
I've heard that feeding the dogs pineapple makes it less appealing! Maybe try feeding them both pineapple as a treat after every meal.
My sister added pineapple juice to her dog's food - worked for her.

I'm sorry, Sue. No ideas here, just lots of sympathy.
Have you discussed this with your vet? I have read that this can sometimes be a health issue: vitamin deficiency, thyroid problem, parasites, etc.
I am truly hoping that things get better for you.
I once had a dog that I "rescued" from a breeder. This dog was a champion show dog and after the breeder/owner finished her as a champion, she bred her for puppies for a couple years before deciding to spay her, and get rid of her. At 4 years of age this poor dog had been flown all over the country for shows and then kept for breeding in confined spaces. Needless to say, she had issues! The worst of the issues was poop eating. She would actually hide in the yard to poop and eat it real fast. Then the worst.....she would come inside to drink water and throw it up in a slurry on the rug...or the furniture! I do not need to tell you how bad this smelled or how imposible it was to clean up. I am glad I had a friend who ran a carpet cleaning business because he was on my speed dial!! We tried the powder enzyme that you add to food and it did not deter her. I had to shut down her dog door and be the poop police every time I let her out. She never stopped trying....I won the battle by being on guard and quicker than she was. I like the idea of aversion training!! Sure wish I had thought of that at the time!!! Good luck! I feel your pain!
Wow-I feel for you. Our doodles have done a lot of naughty things, but thankfully poop isn't one of them! Don't feel bad, we have a fenced in yard and have to leash them to take them out or they will find trouble.
Oh, I just read the e-collar tip. Hmmmm I am going to tell my dil about that. Seriously, it is worth a try.
My dil's female does this too including the other dog's as he is going. (Geez, how can you watch everything?) She has tried so many things but all have been without success. I am sure she feels your pain.
Ned rolls in whatever he finds when we go to dog parks - yuck and more yuck. If he tries to roll when we are on a walk, at least I can tug on the leash and prevent it but when he is loose - I can't stop him.
