Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Has it really been over 2 weeks since F Scott joined us? Time flies when you’re having fun. Scottie loves to play in the backyard with Harlow. There are endless games of Fox and Hound. They run and run and run; then they collapse for a long nap. Scott has turned into a cuddle bug. He loves to put his front paws on our lap, lay his head on our chests and give our chins doodle kisses.

We continue to work at walking around the neighborhood. Scott is still very, very shy. We are trying to get him use to meeting new people by having neighbors try to give him his favorite treats. But no joy yet, he will not take a treat from anyone but family. The poor boy will shake with nervousness when we try to introduce him. We will continue to take it slowly.

Last week I took him to Petsmart to be groomed. We made it all the way to the parking lot before Scott christened my car with his breakfast. I was able to coax him into the shop and introduce him to his groomer. The groomer was very gentle with him and took a long time to bath and groom him. She made sure to talk to him softly and pet him a lot. Scottie is so soft now and his coat looks like grey velvet.

When I picked Scott up both the groomer and a Banfield vet tech were completely smitten with him. I gave them both the DRC website pointing them to the adoption application link. Just like I had to coax Scott into the shop, I had to coax him out of the shop. It was a slow process using my most encouraging “mommy” tone. We finally got to the car and drove home. He was so happy to see the rest of the pack.

He has been such a good boy in the house; only one accident the first day. He lets me know when he needs to go out by patting me on the hand. If I don’t respond the pat turns into a gentle scratch and gets progressively more insistent until I respond.

Tomorrow F Scott and Harvey have appointments with Village Pets to be neutered and microchipped. I am curious to see how they will react when they see each other after being separated two weeks ago.

I'm SO sorry that Harvey barfed in your car today Nina. I don't know if it's motion sickness or pure angst but he just doesn't love a car ride. With a little dramamine he's generally fine though!

Here is the link to F Scott's photo album on my page http://www.doodlekisses.com/photo/albums/f-scott-fitzdoodle DH helped take lots of pictures this weekend after his grooming.

This morning was amazing. Scottie was not shy at all with Frannie. He and Harv sniffed one another and looked like they said "Hey, I know you!". Then Callie, Harv and Scott preceded to have mini romp in Frannie's living room.

We then took a walk around Frannie's neighborhood and Harv showed Scottie the proper way to left his leg on the bushes. :-D

It was SO wonderful to see F Scott Fitzdoodle this morning! The wonderful and amazing Nina brought him to my house this morning so she could pick up Harvey and take both fosters to get chipped and snipped. Scottie looks FANTASTIC! I don't know that I've ever felt a softer coat on a dog - it's like petting velvet.

While reserved, F Scott was very friendly with me and he and Callie had an instant love affair. Harvey was in the mix too, playing with the two other doods. I think Harv and Scottie "knew" each other right off, but am curious on Nina's take.

I could have just hung out with F Scott and snuggled all day - he's a total sweetheart!!!!!! Nina (who we all know is amazing and wonderful) and her pack have done an outstanding job on the scared little baby!
