These days I don’t dare leave Harlow out of my sight; otherwise she finds something to chew on. Besides more than a few shoes, socks, and other objects over the last few weeks; today she destroyed Sherlock’s doggie bed. I came home to find dog bed stuffing strewn all over the kitchen. Poor Sher was laying forlornly on what was left of his doggie bed cover. Looks like I will be doing some sewing this weekend.

The only chew that Penny really loves and is impossible to destroy is an elk antler, she really goes to town on it, gives those new big back teeth a good ol' workout. The antler is shrinking, but you don't see any bits coming off it, so it's mainly fine shavings from the chewing. They don't smell at all either, just get a bit slippery from saliva, my Penny is at her happiest when I'm holding the other end of the antler for her while she's chewing....spoiled much?

I spent $15 on an indestructable toy...Peri destroyed it in 10 minutes. DESTROYED IT! What the heck? She has all adult teeth now and is destroying anything she can get her teeth on. Luckily she goes for her toys, but still, this is a new development! In the last 2 weeks, I have thrown out 10+ toys. If you get a good idea, please let me know!!!! Last night she went for my Ugg slippers, which gave me a near heart attack!

We have trhe same problem with Toby, he will be 2 in March! - he is power chewer, and if he can chew it, he will eat it! In his toy box we only have Kongs, some of the JW Pet toys and his Holl EE Roller balls. So far he has not destroyed any of those. We have tried the super large size rope toys....shredded to threads within a few hours. Our house is completely "child-proofed" (or should I say "doodle-proofed"), because he loves to chew and will chew anything he can get a hold of. We go to the dog park at least three mornings a week, and then the opposite mornings we walk the paved trails in the local park. He definitely gets daily excercise, he just happens to be a power chewer and LOVES to chew. I don't really know what the solution is other than provide lots of solid chew toys. Unfortunatelyt, Toby does not care for the bully sticks so we have to rely on chew toys. We just bought another new toy, Petstages Occupi Treat Dispensing Chew Toy, we have had it a couple weeks and he loves to hold it and chew on it. We also try to alternate his toys about every other week., otherwise he is easily bored, and whenever we swap them out he thinks they are "new" toys and goes crazy over them :-)

Sorry to hear ....some suggestions, some you may not want to hear..lol. Crate...when you go away ...keeps them out of Trouble 100%. Leave them something to keep them occupied...peanut butter frozen filled Kongs...will last them a few hours to lick out all of that peanut butter, you can also buy a toy release machine that will throw out a new kong for your dog every couple of hours to keep them from getting bored. You can stuff other doggy treats in them also to keep them busy. If your pup/dog will chew nylabones, they are suppose to be safe for them and they do last a long long time, just remember when they get down to smaller peices replace them earlier so they don't swallow larger chunks. They also come in Chocolate and Peanut Butter flavors for dogs. One toy I have found that my dogs love the most are Skinnnneeeezzzz. They do have squeakers and they can chew them out so I just remove them from the start, there is no stuffing, my dogs love to tug with them, chew on them and run and toss them in the air to play. I also have flexible braided tug toys they play with and so far have not destroyed at all. Of course best of all they love to chew on each other and make tug toys out of themselves, but that will only last for so long. Just some suggestions...and things I have found to work with Hannah and Honey...

Hate to tell you this, but Abby is 6-1/2 years old & still tears the stuffing out of her bed & tries to tear the stuffing out of Lizzie's also. Lizzie is 18 mos. old & yesterday I caught her chewing up a pen. Fortunately, neither of them goes after our clothes, except maybe as pillows.

Yankee is 2 yrs old and I haven't found a toy that can stand up to his chewing. Finn just got his adult teeth and can now do some damage. He hasn't done any major destruction YET. He chewed up one of Cody's plastic toys and ate 5 jibbitz out of my crocs. He mostly just steals socks and shoes and gets them all slobbery.

My Tessa is 18 months old and still chews. Toys labelled "tough" are not tough enough. We play with her with soft toys but put them away immediately as she will tear them open, pull the stuffing out and eat the squeaker. I have trained my husband to always close the closet door and not to leave shoes or articles of clothing (especially his golfing caps) lying around within Tessa's reach. That goes for his reading glasses also as she has chewed up at least a half dozen pairs. It isn't for lack of exercise as she goes on a 3 mile run every day. She just has a BIG chewing need so we give her free-range bully sticks. I order them in boxes of 50.

I am having the same issues. I have tried all the toughest chew toys to try to satisify Hershey's need to chew but he destroys everything I give him. Does anyone have a recommendation for a chew object with some staying power?
