Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We are fostering, Jaqui, a young puppy who was ravaged by a large dog of some kind. She has lost one eye and we are fighting to save the sight in the other eye.
When Holly met this puppy for the first time tonight, she was in her sweet darling Auntie Holly mode! Holly walked slowly up to this little girl, smelled her and kissed her gently. Little Jaqui wasn't scared a bit. She apparently could sense (she cannot see yet and may not regain sight in the eye that is left) that this big dog is loving and no threat at all to her.
Just when I think that I couldn't love Holly any more than I do, she increases my love with actions like this...

What a beautiful little dog! So Precious!!! Holly is a wonderful friend and therapist!
Richard she looks so much better and I am so happy for all of you. Wow, what a difference, bless her heart!
She looks so much better, it's amazing!
Jacqueline ia a darling dog and is doing quite well. I am bringing her back up to the veterinary eye specialist in Pasadena, CA on Wednesday 2/13/13.
When he previously examined her, he thought that there might be a possibility of regaining some sight in her left eye. There was too much blood to tell accurately but, she has been on a regmen of eyedrops and oher meds to reduce the blood and to prevent infection.
Keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She is actually doing very well right now. Dogs seem to do better without sight than humans because of their acute hearing and sense of smell.
Holly you could not be a sweeter doodle.
Sweet, sweet Holly!
So sad. Thank you for helping her! She is a cute little thing.
I got such a shock when I saw this image : ( Can't say enough how I admire you and what you do for these Maltese pups. This one looks like a darling and I know with your help she will get a wonderful loving home that she so deserves. I had a Maltese who lost her site from the age of five (before surgery was possible) and she lived to be 18 years and had a very happy life. I do hope this little girls can have some vision but whatever happens she will adjust beautifully given a loving home.
Richard and Judy -
Again thank you for fostering this little bundle of joy. We do have a soft spot for dogs with sight problems. No matter what happens with her sight she will be fine. Dogs adapt to sight problems. Dogs with sight problems will rely and more on smell and hearing. Not like humans that rely so much on sight - dogs other senses are much more developed than their sight.
If we can help please let us know.
Poor little darling. Good Aunt Holly. She makes me so proud of doodles.
