I've heard of a paw bath.... but not this!

Thank you all for the positive feedback on my first blog post. I got such positive feedback that I thought I would try another. I think I mentioned last time that my human mom (Christine) has enrolled me (us) in the AKC Star Puppy class. We had class tonight and it was a lot of fun. When I first started "school" - that is what she calls it - I was a spaz and just wanted to play with everyone. Well, now I wow my mom with my focus while I am in class. I do have a weak spot for my BFF in class Winston - he is cute and about my size.

Things I am learning in school include - sit to be pet, sit/stay, down/stay, give, floppy or settle... this one is weird, she just wants me to lay on my side and do nothing... talk about an easy treat!!!! Something tells me there may be more to this one in the future. We are also working on heel - and today we worked on turning while heeling! My mom is teaching me some things that aren't in class. She taught me a new command to bark, but she says "speak". I caught on really quick, because I like to bark when she is cooking something that smells good, when I want her to play or when I just want attention. She doesn't seem to like it when I bark at her repeatedly, so I was surprised when she taught me to speak. But now.... she'll get me barking and now I have to learn to stop when she says so... it is SOOOO hard. I have only been able to do it a few times... I think I like the sound of my own voice :o) It does seem to make her happy when I get it right, so I will continue to work hard... after all, she does take good care of me.

I've made a few more poor decisions this week - I think it's a phase I am going through. I have finally gotten a taste for the TV remote and grabbed it while my mom was sleeping on the floor. We were lying down together and she feel asleep after a long day at work. I saw the remote up on the couch and now that I am tall, I tried to get it and much to my surprise I did. I chewed on it for a while and then left it alone.... it works just fine, but yes - I did leave teeth marks in it and lots of them. Now it is way out of my reach.... I think I might be seeing a pattern here.

So... now on to the subject of my blog. We've all heard of a paw bath on those days when you get muddy paws, right?!? Well, this morning I got a butt bath - how embarrassing! On our morning walk - something didn't go quite right, and my poop stuck to me. It freaked me out, so I scooted around and sat down and then according to my mom "I was a mess". That's when it happened, we got home and she took me right into the bathroom and did a butt bath! OMG - how embarrassing... I am so glad none of my friends saw this happen. You dood's out there may be wondering then why are your writing about it... in a way, it's a bit theraputic, but more so I want to know if any of you have ever experienced this. I think my mom had to rush and get to work, otherwise I likely would have gotten a full bath. While I wasn't thrilled at the time - I was happy to be cleaned up - my crate would have been really gross! On a more funny note - after drying me off, Mom reached up to disconnect the spray hose and as soon as she did the shower head spit out water! She forgot to turn off the water... she screamed and then kind of froze before turning off the water.... she was SOAKED! It was funny.... really funny! Mom's telling me it's time for bed.... I've gotta go!

Hi Shelby-
Murph and I were so happy that you wrote another blog...we love your stories! I loved school too...my favorite part was "play time". The work...well not so much. Murph was really bored with school, so he slept through most of it. He only woke up to get the treats....he's a little lazy, except when he's trying to take away one of my toys. I hear you on that "butt bath" thing....awful, isn't it. My Mom uses "baby wipes".....can you believe that at my age! Now I try to scoot along the grass after I go so I don't have to get "wiped down". I have one of those "sanitary" haircuts too...it's not natural. I'm a DOG! Murph doesn't even need to get "but baths"....I can't figure out how he does it. I want him to teach me, but he won't. He likes to laugh at me when Mom cleans me with the baby wipes. It's so funny that your Mom got soaked herself after your bath. I'll bet you were laughing your "clean butt" off. Moms can be pretty funny...I bet she did some "speaking" herself when that happened. Did you have to block your ears? Keep blogging, buddy! Your friend, Guinness (okay, and Murph too).

Shelby, I have gotten a bottom bath before too. I was so embarrassed to have to walk around with nothing but my rear wet, I felt like everyone was looking at me funny! Oh, the things we have to endure! - Darwin

Shelby, mom and I really love reading your blogs... to funny! LOL! I too had butt baths, when I was really little and all kibble did not agree with me. Now I am a big boy and I can handle real food without any trouble... Although mom said I should not have too much of the new yummy delicious food, cos it might start giving me the runs. I really don't mind butt bath too much if I get to eat MORE of the new yummy food. <3 kOdA

Shelby, I have had a butt bath too! Now my mom gets me a "sanitary cut" at the doggy barber shop and it helps a lot! Your friend, Cooper

Oh Shelby! I can soooo relate to your plight. I too chewed on the thing called a remote control (even though my big brother, Baxter, warned me Mom and Dad would be mad. I guess he would know, he chewed up 3 when he was my age). Boy were they mad; whatever!; it still works and they should appreciate my artistry; they now have a Harlow Original. BTW, I too have gotten a Butt Bath. My mom even used scissors to take care of the problem. You think you were embarrassed? OMG! I had this bare, pink spot you know where! I was like UBER embarrassed! What was she thinking? I am so glad none of your friends were around.
