We are still in Vero Beach and I decided it would be good for Lilly to be around other dogs. It is hard in a community of 120 and 70 miles from Omaha and her friend Rua to find doggie friends. Lilly started this Monday for 1/2 days. On the first day, her tail was between her legs so far, I was surprised that she could walk. She stayed close to the attendant. The doggie daycare that I took her to has the dogs divided by puppies and small dogs, med dogs and large dogs so she was was puppies and small dogs.  On the second day her tail was still down, but she was following the pack and not clinging to the attendant. Today when I dropped her off and watched from the window, she went in with her tail up and waggin and then stopped to poo- I guess she is part of the pack family now. I am sad that she will ony have one more day before we leave for Nebraska.

We have not taken her to the beach, maybe tomorrow afternoon before we leave. My fault, I didn't want to get sand in the car and in the bathtub and have to clean both. Lilly gets groomed on Friday morning so I can just wash her off in the shower and we will have a clean puppy on our trip.

Lilly weighs 14 lbs and knows sit, stay, down. She has to sit and stay for her food. This morning when I was giving her her breakfast, I was so focused on her that I dropped the food; chicken and kibble all over the floor- Lilly thought is was raining food.  I really need to get her some private lessons to teach her no jump. It will be easier to bring someone in the country for private lessons than drive to lincoln/omaha one day a week for 6 weeks.

She traveled from Nebraska to North Carolina for a week then to Florida for 3 weeks. She adapts beautifully. So happy that we started her on the bells on the door to go outside when she was little. We just hang those bells up, throw her blanket on the bed and toys on the floor and she is home no matter where we are. I give her chicken with her food and found that you can go to Subway and get their grilled chicken for 1.50. This works well when we stop for the night, we pull in to Subway, get food for us and chicken for the girl and back to the hotel room. If there is not a fridge inthe room, I put the remaining chicken in a baggie and stick it in the ice bucket with ice. Lilly eats soom inthe monring and we toss the rest. We should bring an ice chest and pack her food and ours but we didnot think ahead on this trip and we were so loaded down with clothes for three climates and I don't remember what other crap, we didnt have room

I was hoping to get her a sister this summer but our place in Arizonia only allows one dog. An only furbaby she will be.

Oh no!  No sister for Lilly!  :-(

So glad Lilly is such a great traveler, and while it is sad you won't be getting a sister for her, it has to be much easier to travel with only one.

I, too, believe in doggy day care...gotta be a good one, of course.  Rua goes to Bark Avenue Tuesdays & Thursdays.  As soon as we get close, she starts doing an excited little cry.  We get in the door and she is all about getting into the daycare room.  Not a single 'bye Mom, I'll miss you'!

They do have "training camps"...I think a trainer takes your dog for a period of time and they come back all trained (I know Jane's breeder kept Rooney for two weeks (?) extra and did training).  Of course, this would be expensive and you'd have to be without her!

Rua sure misses her BFF Lilly and can't wait to see her.  Hopefully if you are back and settled in and have an opening in your guest room (hint hint), Rua & I can come down for a visit once I am done with the auditors and February month-end at work.  Perhaps arriving PM on Thursday 3/15 and leaving Sunday noonish?

I am also a big fan of Doggie Play Care.... I take Shelby (only fur kid) twice a week... She loves it and I love the tired doodle I pick up and have a relaxing evening.   Lily's a cutie... :)   Have fun at the beach - I bet she'll have a great time!

Awww - she is such a good girl!!!  I am a big believer of ddc (doggie day care), my boys go a couple of days a week for the sheer joy of having them play themselves into exhaustion.  They love it.  She sounds like a great travel companion - gotta love that.  Next time you come to FL - come see Rooney & Stuart!

Lilly is such a big girl now...going to daycare all by herself. You must be very proud.

I am impressed with how well you have planned and how well Lilly has adapted to travel and change.  A really nice asset of having only one furbaby is that you can concentrate on that one and take them places so much easier.

Wow, Lilly, you are really growing up. So nice that you like to travel, maybe the Subway chicken you get on the road has something to do with it. :>)
