Lily's first "Paws to Read" program visit
I originally posted this in the Therapy group, but wanted to let everyone know how Lily's first visit went. A little background first. A couple weeks ago we got a call from the coodinator of the pet therapy program we volunteer with about a new reading program at one of our local librarys. She wanted to know if we wanted to be the first dog they have for the kids to read to. We thought Lily would be great at it.
Well this last Saturday was the first time. And we were right. Lily did an amazing job. She did all doodles proud. She had 4 kids read to her for about 15 to 20 minutes each over a couple hours. I got a email from the program director at the library. Here's what she had to say: Lily was wonderful and everybody has fallen in love with her. When I am ready to adopt another dog I am going to seriously consider a Godendoodle. We will be going the first Saturday every other month for the time until the program grows. What a wonderful 1st visit - Lily looks so proud and "official"! Jake wanted me to ask Lily for him if she thought it would be rude to fall asleep during the reading........he loves being read to and would like to volunteer at our library but it kind of makes him drift off.....:) Good work Lily!!!
