Not a good way to end the weekend.

I was just getting ready to head to bed (got to get up at 4am) when I noticed Bear trying to lick his incision. Somehow my too smart for his own good dog found a way past the cone and removed his stitches. I called the vet right away to let him know. He told me to bring him in first thing in the morning so they can clean the area and re-stitch it. They will give him a larger cone and evaluate him throughout the day. He told me it would heal on it's own without doing anything to it but he would need some antibiotics and cream every day. He also said to put some antibacterial cream on it tonight.

Bear won't let me anywhere near the incision. He takes off the second I touch it. So the cream is out of the question for tonight. The second problem is that I have to be at work at 6:30 in the morning. I had to call in a TON of favors and switch an entire department's schedule just to be able to take him to the vet at 8. Not a way to end my weekend. Just when I thought we had three days of cone behind us we have to start all over.

Oh no!!! I have to go thru this next weekend-neutering on Friday. I think Sandy had a great idea-she tied a Tshirt to Toby's rear end-sort of like a diaper. I was planning on trying this. Sandy-if you are reading this, can you pls post this picture again. I thought it was a brilliant idea-when the cone doesn't work.

Poor Bear.... Hope he heals fast. If I had to do the cone again, I would go with a soft one, less bruising of your legs and a happier doggy :)
