No surgery!!!  All I can do is thank God and all of you here on DK for your prayers and good thoughts and the wonderful doctors in Estero.  14 hours of hell but we do have a good outcome IF all proceeds like it should.  Rooney did not have an obstructed stomach, whatever showed on the first xrays at 5:00 a.m. did not show on the noon xrays.  They kept him on an I.V. all during this time and he had had nothing to eat at all.  The second set of xrays did show that his stomach and intestinal walls along with his pancreous (spell) were thickened.  They believe that this is due to his eating something that he had a reaction to.  If it was something from outside they feel that this could have all been caused by parasites or did he have a reaction to his organic chicken jerky that we use for training treats?  We may never know.  There is also a chance that he could have IBS (irritable bowel syndrom - my spelling is horrid) but I doubt that he does as he has never had runny poop.    We left the hospital at 6:00 p.m.  Right now he is on two meds - one to stop his puking and one to treat for parasites.  He can only have itty bitty sips of water and kibble is fed by hand two or three at a time till he proves he can keep it down.  If he vomits - back to the hospital we go.  He looks none the less for the wear - a shaved right leg is the worst of it.  I've attached a photo of him before I took the blue bandage off.  His fur is so thick and the little leg under there so very small.  He isn't even 15 pds yet.  I know that you all understood my fear and worry - we all love these fur babies so much.  I really can't express what is in my heart for all of you that sent your kind words, thoughts and prayers Rooney's way!  I was so afraid - but I knew that you were all with us in spirit.  All I can say is Thank You!

I'm so happy that Rooney had a good night...poor baby was probably exhausted (and his Mommy too).

Rooney Update - cute little doodle bug slept on my bed right through the night (we turned in early) and woke me with wet, little doodle kisses at 5:30.  I hand fed him 5 kibble and a few sips of water - he has kept in down!!!!!  Yeah Rooney.  Then he gave me a poop and it looked really normal (I'm saving it to take to our regular vet - I'd like it checked out to see if they see anything), life is good this morning!!!!!

So happy little Rooney is all safe and sound and back home.  Prayers continue that he keeps his food down and continues to improve with his meds!

Welcome home Rooney!  Hope your recovery is speedy but for now just let mommy love on you for a while, she was very worried about you.  All your buddies on DK were sending great thoughts your way and we're all glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Jane, I am somewhat happy that I did not see the first post as I would have been a wreck with worry for you and Rooney, but sad that I wasn't there to lend support.
So glad that he did not need surgery and praying that he recovers quickly from these horrible 2 days.

Now - ya gotta admit, this is one funny picture of the cutest doodle baby I know! Talk about skinny leg :-)

Daisy sends her love too!

Wonderful news!  I've been checking back on here all day to see how it went.  Rooney is one tough dood - with a great mommy, to boot!  Praying that he continues to stay well.  Give him a hug from Penny and me.

Jane...I have been anxious all day.  I even took my iPad to the hair salon so I could check on updates.  It is not 7:47 in California and I just found your post on the main page.  I kept looking at the e-mail all day and didn't' think to go the main page.  I was sitting here getting more and more worried with every minute.  It had been a long time since you posted that you were heading to the vet because you hadn't heard from them in a while.  I feel like I want to get on a plane and just come there and hug you and Rooney.  Throw away his chickie treats!!!!!  I love this little man and I am so glad to hear he is home with his mommy.  I bet you are glued to his side right now!  Keep us all posted.  Boy the DK wires were on fire all day with prayers going your way!!
