One Skunk, One Cat, Two Dogs and No Sleep.

It was 12:05 AM according to the glowing digital display on my clock. Waking by the sound of oneself gagging is no picnic. The burning nose hair falls pretty low on the list of favorite sensations as well, but this is the reality when the neighbor’s cat accidentally runs head-on with a wandering skunk.

The cat scared the skunk.

The skunk, skunked the cat.

The cat jumped the fence.

The dogs saw the cat.

The cat brought the stench.

The stench reached the dogs.

The dogs went berserk.

The cat freaked and froze.

The dogs lost their minds.

The hours crept and crept.

My eyes burned and wept.

Soon the sun came up.

Sleep finally fell on pups.

BUZZ went the alarm.

Now at the end of the day, following a sleepless night, all I can say is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

And I meant to say... SO SORRY that it happened to you!

Eeek - I think we have a skunk living under our deck right now. Lucy was going beserk this evening when I let her out to potty - I wonder if she smelled it? Thank God she didn't see the skunk and get sprayed. This might send me over the edge since we just got finished with a round of whipworm and stitches from cut paws/legs! (We're down $1300 for Jan/Feb. in the dog department!!!)

Skunks, our biggest fear. There are a lot around her, sandwiched between the woods and the wetlands.

A terrible time but a really great rhyme. Much funnier now than it was last night, doodles do provide lots of good material for blogs. We don't have skunks so I have no appreciation for how bad the smell can be.  This could be an idea for a new greeting card, "Hope you smell better soon".

We used to have two Jack Russells (still have one, actually!) but one time they had a run-in with a skunk.  They were barking like crazy and since it was relatively early on a Saturday morning, I was trying desperately to quiten them down.  It wasn't until I got them in the house that I realized that they had been "playing' with a skunk.  Nothing smells as bad as two sprayed dogs!  Our house smelled for a long time!! Talk about DISGUSTING!!

Oh I should clarify, that your post was hilarious but I feel your pain, not laughing at all.
