Ring-a-ling-a-ling........
Wow, these bells work better than I thought….
So….. we have a little string of bells (as many of you do) hanging on the back door that the girls use to let us know when they need/want to go out. Apparently, I didn’t respond as quickly as little Miss Penny thought I should…The ringing was fierce and seemed much louder than usual from the other room as well. “Hmm” I said to myself, “She must really need to go”. ‘Round the corner I came to fall upon the CUTEST sight I’ve ever seen…. There, standing on the gate, bell in hand as it were, was my little Miss Penny, quite proud of herself too I might add. Doodles are SO smart.
Sorry for the poor quallity of the photos...I just grabed my son's little point and shoot camera so as not to miss the moment.

Shelby took to the bells quickly. They still hang on the door today - even after having installed a dog door. Then if I have the door closed off - she can ring to let me know she needs to go out. A funny twist has developed - that she will sometimes ring the bell (while the dog door is open) as if to say "come outside and play with me". She is a smartie!

She must really have to go! Very sweet. Our 2 doodles were trained that way and we still have the bells up there!
They are on a schedule but you never know! When you don't come right away they keep hitting it harder and harder and they sometimes fly right off the door. We only had a couple accidents ever when they were puppies.
Somebody at the petstore told us about them and I am SO grateful!

Neely found out very early on that those bells are a ticket to go out to play as well as potty! And they now It's not safe enough to call their bluff just that early on too!
