Hi all Roo here - This is an urgent report.  If you as a doodle or a doodle parent have a swimming pool, be on high alert.

Mom was trying to not get up and get our breakfast and usually we just snuggle in with her for awhile.....but this morning we had, had, had to get her up. We barked until we were horse (hoarse? - can there be two words that sound alike, but are different?) Anyway, we finally got her up, it was super urgent.  There was a girl duck and a boy duck in our swimming pool. Swimming in our swimming pool.  They didn't even so much as stretch their wings when we barked. We were doing our very best barking - stiff legs and on tippy toe, tail high and straight, deep voice. This wasn't just a there's a bicylcle in the street ordinary sort of newsy bark.  This was a serious bark and we had those darn ducks surrounded.  I was at the gate near the house and Tigger was at the back gate.  Usually Tigger is such a goody two shoes, but he was even surprising me with his barks.  I think that is what finally got Mom up - Tigger was on fire.

And you will hardly believe it, but Mom made us come in and she shut us in the bedroom with her where we couldn't even see the ducks.  What was she thinking?  She rubbed our bellies and told everything was okay.  Hard to believe.  I was seriously worried.  But you know what? When Mom finally let us get up those ducks were gone!  How did she know that would happen?

Tigger and I stayed out all day on alert for those ducks - in our pool.  They never came back.  I'm not sure if it was Mom magic or me and Tigger on patrol.  Just in case - be alert for ducks taking over your swimming place. I can put up with those goofy screaming parrots, they stay in the trees and sometimes they tell a good joke, but you really have to listen because they all talk at once.  The doves are okay, too, harmless although sometimes they sound like they are crying. The crows think they are hotshots, but they never go in the pool so we just ignore them. I don't really have anything against ducks, in fact I sort of had the urge to go fetch one for Mom, but they need to stay in the sky or find their own swim place! Ggggrrrrr!

Roo, you and Tigger did the right thing! Protect your turf! There's plenty of puddles here to swim in! We had 2.25" of rain, they could have swam up and down our sidewalk! Your mom knows best! Magic...yes!

How cute.  Tell Roo we had a boy and girl duck swimming around in our pool too.  Although, I did let Rylee and Cooper out and they flew off as they charged down to the pool!

You tell 'em, Roo!  We recently had an opossum invade OUR yard.  After two nights of alerting Mom and her not taking the right action, we took matters into our own hands.  Let's just say that critter will not invade OUR yard again!

Just finding time for a more thorough cruise through DK - Another great blog, Roo.  Ducks swimming in a pool may seem innocent enough, but I'd like to remind everybody that it was two ducks swimming in Tony Soprano's pool that started all that craziness!!  Good thing you and Tigger rid yourselves of those pests before anything bad could happen.

Roo, you and Tigger did a fantastic job with those ducks!  Stay on the alert--I know you will.  Sure wish I had some ducks to watch for.  Or a pool.  Well, I don't like to get wet, but I'd love to patrol for ducks.  Paws up--Trav

Rooney Jr. (as opposed to the much more mature Rooney of Jane, Rooney and Stuart) totally understands your alarm. At only five months old he still encounters MANY new and different things in the world and it can be difficult to know which things warrant full scale Red Alert barking and which things can be ignored. For example, did you know that a person standing at a bus stop with an umbrella is no cause for concern? Rooney definitely missed that memo. I'll let him know that he can add swimming to ducks to the "ignore" list.

Roo and Tigger - Stuart and Rooney here - we are JEALOUS!!!  We have a giant screen thingy over our pool area and we dont' get any ducks - darn it.  How fun would it be to bark and bark at em!!!!!  Don't tell your mom but we have had raw duck meat and it is supper yummy so we say - catch one if you can.
