Sharing the Fourth of July brisket with Holly and the Maltese...

Holly is four and a half years old and we have had her with us since she was seven and a half weeks old.  She has never counter surfed until this Fourth of July when I left a brisket close to the edge of the kitchen counter.  Judy had given Holly a taste of the roast and that was too tempting.   I guess the saying "Where's the beef?" goes for Holly as well as the little lady on the old commercials for Wendy's

 

Holly retrieved it and shared part of it with her Maltese friends.  Luckily it was not very hot and lucky that I had cooked with a rub rather than barbecue sauce.  That was a lot easier to clean up..

I remember when I was a kid we had a cat (who I think was really a dog in a cat suit) and he jumped up on the table where the roast was "resting" and snatched the huge peice of meat pulling it backwards down the stairs to the basement.  We had a heck of a time getting it away from him because the cord from the roast was stuck between his teeth!  My dad nearly had a stroke and for days we had to keep the cat out of his sight.  Money was tight back then and Sunday roast was a big deal!

Holly was generous to share with her Maltese brothers and sisters.

I am not happy Holly got your brisket, but it is good to know that she isn't perfect - Ned and Clancy have a complex from me telling them how perfect Holly is.  Good  girl that she is, of course she shared with the little ones.

My DH would have had a heart attack - brisket is his favorite....next time you make it let me know so Holly can share with him too, ha ha.

I hope this happened AFTER you and Judy had eaten! At one Thanksgiving, my parents' lab got the turkey while we were saying the blessing! Ugh!!
