Smart dood

[Maryann,Roo and Tigger]

Yesterday the UPS man delivered a package and rang the doorbell. Before I could get to the door the bell rang again. The doods and I went to the door -doods sat down on rug as instructed and I opened door. Package on porch, but no person. Suddenly both doods shoot out the front door - notice that I did not title this obedient doods. Roo returned immediately to "Roo come". Tigger, however had vanished from my site. I stepped onto the porch and there he was visiting my next door neighbor, which is why they had shot out the door in the first place. Apparently they could hear her and being doods there is nothing better than a friend to greet.

I called Tigger again including the actual "come" word which is cookies. Neighbor is still more interesting. I close the door to keep Roo in, no sense in chasing two doods, and go to kitchen to get cookie cannister. I return to the closed front door, prepared to shake cookie cannister showing that I will indeed make good on the cookie promise. I open the door, preparing to step out and there is Tigger sitting on the doormat watching for me to open the door for him, after all I had said cookies.

I like the idea of a special treat only for coming when called at the back door... I think I am going to steal that idea! I love that your recall word is "cookies" that is great!!!

I need to teach Clancy to come - he still has loose stools, so it can't be with treats yet. Ah well, I just need to give it some time. At least the bottom line command worked.

We keep special liver treats for our pack by the back door. They only get these treats if they come when called. Isn't it great how smart our doods are?
