When Traveler wants to lie down on the bed, he does that doggie getting-ready-for-bed thing, turning round and round, nose down, butting the covers with his head, sometimes pouncing a couple of times on some suspect spot. Then he just sort of drops, and curls. My daughter was watching him do this and said he was ‘stompin’ out the snakes.’ I had to laugh. Not only was that a funny description, it sounded like an even more reasonable explanation for the behavior that just making the bed-place all comfy.

I really appreciate Trav’s taking responsibility for scaring the bed snakes away. I’ve always just gone to bed, not giving a single thought to potentially lethal dangers lurking in the covers. Good doggies!!

I think we are pretty safe from snakes at our house too. Murphy plops so hard on top of our bed and Bella still wiggles her little self under the bed to check things out.SO we are covered top and bottom. Bella is 35 pds as of this mornings Vet visit so her little self won't be little too much longer. LOL

LOL -- I've had to give up some of my old worries in order to accomodate these new ones. Bed snakes, attack squirrels--who knew???!!!

Ive heard dogs do this but have never seen it. Cooper rarely lays on a bed (if she does its usually a cool bed) and doesnt check for snakes.... maybe I will have to start checking!!!!!!
