These Doods have a way of keeping me laughing. After Murph's Vet visit on Wednesday, I've been kind of "bummed". I just have been feeling really bad for him, but the antics of these guys just always cheers me up. Murphy is a true dichotomy....one minute he's "ferocious" and the next minute he's a big baby. This week we got our Bocker stuffed Doodle in the mail, and the dogs were really interested in it (thinking it must be a new toy for THEM). Just to be sure it didn't end up "destuffed" I put it up on top of the dresser in the guest room. Yesterday, Murph was laying in the guest room, and I noticed he was staring up at the dresser, and was all "hunched down" and growling. I watched him for a few minutes and then I figured out that he was growling at Bocker....and he was actually "scared" of it. So, I went over and took it down to show him....he took off running. I called him back and he came over and pressed his body against me (which is what he always does if a noise outside scares him). The poor guy was terrified. Well, now poor Bocker is in hiding, but Murph is always looking over his shoulder, waiting for the "big, bad Bocker" to strike.
Yesterday Guinness had finally had enough of his brother. Because Murph is "sick" I went to the store and bought two of those stuffed toys that look like Teddy Bears (and they have squeakers). They love these, but I rarely get them because they usually don't last more than a day. Anyway. I brought them home and gave one to each Dood. Murph decided that he NEEDED AND DESERVED to have both of these new toys, so he kept taking Guinness's away. He kept them and wouldn't let Guinness anywhere near. A few times I took Guinness's away and gave it back to him, telling Murphy "NO". Well, he'd go right back and take it away again. So this went on back and forth for a few hours. I could see Guinness was getting madder and madder. So, once more I took it away from Murph and gave it to Guinness. I watched and a few minutes later, Murphy strolled over to Guinness and tried to get the new toy. Guinness "snapped" clearly on his last nerve and bit Murph right in the leg. You should have seen the reaction from "Big Murph"....he squealed like a baby and then he started limping around the room. Mr. Drama King was looking for sympathy. I looked and the skin wasn't even broken....I think the reaction was shock that Guinness had the nerve to fight back. It's one of those things that wasn't really funny....but it was. "Big Guy" finally got what was coming to him. Well after that he never went back after the toy. Of course, this morning it started again (he probably forgot). So, there's never a dull moment with "the boys". They're always full of surprises....Doodles are THE BEST.

Traveler was scared of several Halloween decorations, especially a scarecrow--and this hand really terrified him. It took quite a while for him to get brave enough to approach it. He always steals other dogs' balls at the dog park--and he's really quick so I'm always apologizing and trying to return balls to the correct owner. Sheeeesh!
Poor Murph! It's a horrible shock when you don't get what you think you deserve! Try some more limping Murph, and I don't have to tell you about that pathetic expression that works so well on moms!
May I also mention that 15% of the proceeds from the sale of the Bocker plush puppy go to the DRC; so you can get yourself a cute toy and also help homeless doodles in need. Bocker rocks!
JD says, Guinness, my man, way to go! We can only take so much before we have to show these whippersnappers the error of their ways.
And Murph, I know it sucks to be sick, but you can't take your brother's toys. And remember, Big Doodles Don't Cry!
Murphy, I feel your pain - we have scary things at our house too and at Christmas when I was trying to gather all the new stuffed animal toys on my bed my mom kept taking half of them away to give to my brother. (There really is an extra letter in that word - it should be spelled BOTHER!) I'm bigger, just like you, so we should get more of everything - especially when we're sick. Hope you feel better soon. Your pal, Clifford.
