Where Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone, Oh Where Oh Where Can He Be

It would appear as if Jack Daniels has abandoned me. Yes, ever since my mom came, AKA Jack's Grammie, my little guy is missing in action.

If I sit very still every once in a while I can catch a glimpse of him chasing my mom, being a velcro dog, not leaving her side for a minute. Rolling over on his back every chance he gets so she can rub his belly.

I call my baby, I offer him treats, he wants nothing to do with me, unless I am eating something he really wants, then he will leave my mom's side for a minute to see if I will give him some and then it is right back to my mom. He sleeps with her, gets up with her, and  plays with her.

I miss my dog, I sing songs to him but I don't exist to him when his Grammie is here.

I do know he still is in the house because after my mom plays with him all day, treats him and sneaks him stuff I don't want to have, he has to poop every night about 3 am. That is when he graces me with his sweet presence by pouncing on me and licking me ear. I get up out of my bed, let him out to potty and it is right back to Grammie he goes.

One night, I tried to keep him in my room, I shut the door and he sat at the door for a very long time looking at me wagging his tail...

My mom said it is because every time I hold him I am always poking at him, checking his teeth, looking in his ears and brushing him... and she just rubs his belly and plays with him.

Does your dood do this? It would appear that Jack prefers anyone to me when someone else is here? Once they are gone he will "settle" for me!!

What is up with my dood???? I say this tongue and cheek but I seriously wonder why he is doing this???

Darwin is just as fickle. Whenever we visit the in-laws he is glued to FIL's side. It might have something to do with FIL'S tendency to give him bacon, LOL.  I'm glad he doesn't live with us or I would never see Darwin!

He sounds like my kids when my parents visit! :-)

Don't worry, he'll still be your little boy. He knows you're there for him anyway...a little taken for granted maybe. ;-)

Ned rarely cuddles with me because I am always checking for mats, cleaning his eyes etc.  He likes to be close, he likes to swagger around me, but staying on my lap - not so much.

We had a friend come to dinner recently who Tara had never met. She was completely gaga over him. She jumped on his lap and kissed him and wanted to lay next to him  when he sat on the couch!!! WTD??? It was love at first sight...

Don't feel too bad :)  Both of mine love their grandparents to death.  My dad loves to play hide the ball with Buddy and he doesn't have eyes for anyone else, until my mom breaks out the treats.....  Then all eyes are on her, she sounds like me and does his commands like me, he adores her.  She is not even a dog person, one time she asked me why he was sitting in front of her and staring at her.  I said, "he loves you mom!" so funny.  They do still sleep with us, but not much more when family is visiting.  You are not alone Jennifer.

Yes, Jennifer--the doods can be fickle!  When my daughter and her dog are here, Trav sleeps right outside their bedroom door, hangs with them constantly, occasionally checks in with me to see if there are any treats to be had.  I think it's just somebody new and different, not the same ole, same ole.
