Wishing for a chemo buddy

I start chemo today for leukemia. I am blessed with a great family and wonderful friends that have all rallied around me. However, I really wish I could bring Achilles with me. He would not be a problem. Ok so he might want to great everyone there (who doesn't want a big doodle kiss?) He hardly ever barks and basically would be glued to my side. So what's the prob. They should make a place where you could go with your pets if they were a great comfort. Maybe we could collectively make that happen. Well at least I get to snuggle when I get home.

Anna, maybe we should start a DK petition to have Achilles be allowed... :-). Although it has been a long time, I remember how tough chemo was and I definitely would have loved a canine friend there to help me through! I know you are a strong person who will get through it, and of course you have all of us here for support!

Seriously,  try to make a human chemo buddy.  It helped my friend enormously to share chemo with another who was waging war against cancer.  Try to talk to everyone a little until you make that connection.  Hang tough, this is war, but you will win.  Maybe you could take a stuffed dog or a picture of Achilles or a small album of Achilles antics with you.  It would be a comfort and a great conversation starter.  Roo and Tigger send doodlekisses and I will put you in my prayers.

Anna, I am sending you very best wishes with this difficult journey you are on.  With what I know of Leukemia and two good friends who have been through it and who are now both hail and hearty it is definitely beatable.  I too would want my buddy by my side but can understand why that isn't possible.  He will be waiting for you at home and you will get lots of great cuddles.  Our pets seem to know instinctively when we need extra loving.  Just a thought but can you bring a lap top with internet access with you?  If so you could log on here and we would all make sure to send you lots of messages and photo's to keep you going. Plus you could have all your photo's of  Achilles on too.

Anna, so sorry to hear of your illness and I'm sending positive thoughts to you. I so agree, it would be so nice to have Achilles with you during your treatment. These babies are a great comfort.

Anna, we too are sending good thoughts and prayers to you.  If Achilles can't stay with you during treatment is there any way he can come with the person who will be driving you home so you could see him as soon as you are done?  I know he will take super good care of you when you get home, he is very attuned to you and knows what his mommy needs.  Definitely take a picture of him with you, he'll help you through this.
