Went to a bbq at my son's yesterday. We purposely kept Chewie in the house while the grandkids were eating on the deck. The little ones are no match for Chewie trying to snatch food off their plates. For some unknown reason, my 5 yo grandson opened the doorwall and placed his plate on the kitchen floor when he was done eating. Naturally, Chewie was there in a flash and was chomping away on something before we noticed...couldn't have been more than a minute or so. When we told him to drop it, he swallowed. We suspected the only thing he would have had to chew would be corn cob, but it seemed like most/all of it was still there.
Fast forward to 4:30 this morning...vomitting yellowish liquid, 6:30 am vomitting more liquid and a little piece of corn cob. I thought, great he got it up. Nope, liquid vomitting continued once every hour or two. Took him to the vet, x-rayed and saw a second chunk of suspected corn cob in his stomach. They had me leave him to further induce vomitting with the hopes of retrieving it and hopefully avoiding stomach surgery. Needless to say, I was a wreck! They called me just 40 minutes after I left him...success...quite a decent size chunk of cob came up and repeat x-ray indicated that was all of it. THANK GOODNESS!!! They gave him another shot to stop the vomitting, are keeping him for a few hours and I can pick him up at 2:00.
This kind of excitement I can definitely do without!
