A while ago I was reading about someone who had made a diamond from their deceased pet. Intrigued, I searched around and found this. You send in a lock of hair or ashes from your pet, and they turn it into a diamond. Interesting... what do you think? Weird or touching?

Nancy we have a footprint of our cocker-lab and it still sits on my nightstand...we lost him over 3 years ago so that doesn't sound odd to me...unless you wear it around your neck!
The footprint is a really neat idea - I think I will make one of Hunter :-) It doesn't seem creepy since she is still alive - now had I done it AFTER I am not so sure it wouldn't be kinda creepy.
Nobody loves diamonds more than me but I would not wear something like this. Not because it is creepy, weird or anything. When the time comes, many years from now I hope, that Rooney dies - if I had $10,000 to spend to memorialize him - then I would rather take that money and do good with it - in his name. Donate to a no kill shelter, donate to Doodle rescue, something like that. I think that if Rooney were a person, that is what he would tell me to do.
This is kind of weird but I don't think I would do it. It is kind of creepy. I think the footprint is a good idea. I am going to have to have a footprint made for Huff. I never want him to die, though.:( He is my doodle baby:(
Kinda gives me the "icks".
My ex-MIL has one with my ex-FIL "in it" - I have to say its better than what she did before - she would take his urn full of ashes to EVERY family function. He would even sit in a chair next to her at the dinner table. NO JOKE. After seeing that for years having him turned into a ring wasn't so bad. I think a pet would be way less creepy than a person, but I am still on the fence about that one too.
Oh, Denise. That scene at the dinner table with ex-FIL "sitting" at the table should be in a sit-com. Not to be disrespectful to the deceased, but I'm pretty sure that would have taken away my appetite. You're right, a necklace is WAY better.
OMG - that is just too weird. Do you think she has stopped since. Ewwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to agree with most.....this is extremely creepy...
My first dog, a Pug named Penny, died a few weeks before my father passed away suddenly. We didn't know what to do with her ashes, so we ultimately decided to put her in the casket with my dad. It was a very rough year to say the least, but I'm comforted knowing that they are together.
This diamond thing, however, is just plain strange. lol
