I had talked to PetPlan before I bought it and there is a pre-existing clause, however it is self-limiting in that a case of Giardia is covered if the last case of it happened over 12 months ago, AND ear infections needed to be 24 months ago. So it isn't that they will NEVER cover them if you ever had certain problems. I was told this and I read it in the contract, but please confirm and don't just take my word. Its good to know though
Yes. Pet plan here. We went with the Gold plan.

We have PetPlan, so very happy we have it! They have paid out far more than we have paid in premiums.....we went with the Gold plan, $50 deductible. We have received reimbursements usually within 2 weeks of submitting the claim.  Our only regret is not getting insurance right away when we got Toby!  Unfortunately for us they do not cover "pre-existing" conditions, and Toby was diagnosed with epilepsy before we got the insurance. So any treatments, testing, etc.related to the epillepsy are not covered expenses. As already stated, there are many good discussions on DK regarding insurance in which you can compare plans and pick the company and plan that best offers what you are looking for in insurance.

Yes, PetPlan,  I think it's worth it especially a policy that covers a major illness or accident.
does petplan rate increase with age?

Yes, they do.

Yes!!  We recently had a vet bill over $500 and we got 80% back from the insurance company - yipee!  You need to get it while they are young for it to be worth it, before they have had any health problems.  I figured that although it is an extra monthly expense, if one of them was to get really sick or break a bone, the bill could easily run into thousands of dollars and the insurance would at least give us some of it back.

I have pet insurance.  I didn't get it at first, and one day Cocoa ingested something toxic (I'm still not sure what).  The total bill was $850 for one night in the animal hospital.  Her bill was the lowest amount of the estimate because she recovered nicely and had no further complications- meaning the bill could very well have been much more.

I quickly set up the insurance after that- I realized that I could have been out several thousand dollars!  Now I rest well at night, knowing that if God forbid she was ill again I wouldn't have to worry about the expense.  Veterinary expenses have become very expensive and we all need to know that finances won't be a factor when our doodles need medical care.

We got it on our 2. We went with Petplan also. Mainly in the event of a emergency. Not sure what the cost will be for the Alexandria area, but down here in Waldorf it's only costing me about $30.00 a month each.
Just signed up for Pet Plan Bronze. I could not believe how affordable it was. It's nice to know if any illness or injury occurred, we could afford to get Max the best care.  I could not imagine having to make a choice to put him down because we couldn't afford to save him.
i am tossed up between pet insurances  pet plan or vpi i do not like that pet plan u need to satisfy a deductable for everytime u go  but i was not sure if its for differenet problems and vpi  they  make what amount for each  problem ???? which one ????
I don't know about Pet Plan but I had VPI and they drove me nuts with what they didn't cover.Switched to EMBRACE and we love them.  The wellness rider lets us take Lizzy every year for a checkup, her shots, preventative blood tests etc and it's totally covered up to $400.  They even cover Revolution, Front Line etc.  My $289.00 bill from yesterday is totally reimbursed!!!From the research I did, they seem to be the only one who covers Hip Dysplasia, so common with our doodles, so you might want to check them out.  They have a neat website, www,embrace.com.  Our vet who has two doodles was impressed.
