My brother bought a guinea pig and my dogs and I went to visit them.I knew Ozzy would be good with the pig but i wasn't sure about Dakota.I was so happy that they got along so well.Dakota was so gentle and calm around the guinea pig.She even did a play bow and barked at the guinea pig to get it to play.Of course it didn't play but Dakota didn't know that it wouldn't work.It was so funny.Once Dakota figured out that a guinea pig couldn't play with a dog she stopped trying and just followed it around and sniffed it as did Ozzy.We were also supprised that the guinea pig was so calm and wasnt scared.I forgot about the picture of a ferret I used to have. Its sleeping with Ozzy.As you can see they got along very well.

What good dogs!  And what adorable photos!  Trav's prey instinct seems to have kicked in, and I don't think he would play nicely at all with the guinea pig.  When he was younger, things were different and all little life was approached as potential playmates.  Here he is doing a 'play pose' with a slug.

OMG, a slug! I love it!!
Hi, Carla!  Yeah, wish I'd gotten this on video.  :)
One of the first times I heard Trav bark was at this slug.  I couldn't figure out what was getting him so excited at first.  He tried for quite a while to get this new little friend to frolic around with him.  :)
Ah - for Kirby the guinea pig would be chased/tortured for sure!!  Dexter may leave him/her alone.  Kirby is half irish setter and has a HUGE prey/hunter drive.
I love seeing the species getting along. You have very sweet dogs.

Darwin is okay, but he does get kind of excited. Bowing, wagging his whole but, etc. He hasn't chased or anything, but he gets a little bit fixated on trying to get the animal to notice him.

I used to have guinea pigs.  Wilma and Fred.   I LOVE THE SQUEAK.    I think my dogs would be just fine until the squeak  and then, oh no.

What gentle souls you have there.

so sweet. we don't have any other animals in the house and it is wonderful to see such love for all little things.
This is so cute!! What good puppies!! I think Tara might do okay with a rodent. She is pretty passive and gentle but I probably won't put it to the TEST!! LOL!
That is very cute! and I am impressed. Sonny would have thought of that guinea pig as a new ball. Unfortunately, Sonny sees smaller creatures as balls to play with. Not such a good thing when bunnies make a nest in you backyard :(

Nope, Sunny hunts and kills anything small and not-doggy! She catches and kills squirrels in our yard. It's not really a "mean" sort of thing, it's just her strong prey drive and also the fact that she wants to play with them.
