The person that USED TO PROVIDE MY CHILDCARE lost her job this afternoon.  This family adopted a two year old Min Pin named Dexter a little over a month ago.  One of their other dogs marked in the house and even marked the couch.  When they brought Dexter home he of course wanted to mark, which they considered him not being housebroke.  So instead of taking the time to train him they put him outside to live.  I found out about this two weeks ago when my DD started going there.  Since then I have asked a couple of friends about giving him a home.  Well this afternoon when I went to pick DD up Dexter wanted to go inside.  This person put her foot out to block him and Dexter peed out of fear.  She started yelling, cussing and proceeded to kick this little guy right in front of me.  The words that came out of my mouth are not even fit to share.  I told her I knew someone that would give him a home and took the little guy with me.  Now Dexter is safe in a crate while I'm waiting to hear from the Min Pin Rescue.  My DD doesn't understand and I'm not in the right frame of mind to explain it.

Thanks for listening.

I am in awe that you were level headed enough to think to the poor dog! I don;t know if I would have thought to do that and if I would have been too worried about the law coming to get me for taking the dog. You are a woman who stands up for her convictions and you are definitely to be admired. There is an amazing childcare person out there for you I'm sure.
im so glad you scooped up the poor dog, he deserves so much better than what that woman was giving him

Ditto to what everyone else said.

You are a HERO!

Good on you !!! for being the voice of this dog in need.
Tina, you are wonderful person.
Tina, you are my kind of woman!  Kudos to you.

Good job!  I second everything that's already been said.

When I read the subject line of the post, my first thought was of my mom who, while maybe not as subtle and composed as you in her approach, screams in pain and horror "Ayyyyy!" when she sees someone kick or be rough with their dog.  Then she tells them that the animal cannot defend itself and did not ask to be born, let alone put in that person's care, and how would that owner like to be treated like that.  It is quite a scene to watch, and when I was a pre-teen it embarrassed me, but I am and was proud of her.

Way to GO!!!!
Sadly, I would say I would not have the guts to say anything...I would probably have just begged her to let me have the dog, gone home and then just never taken my DD back. I don't know if I could have actually stood up to her!!
I'm so proud!!!!!!!!!
Post a picture of Dexter :-) I love min pin's they are adorable!!
Tina you have done a wonderful thing!  You are incredible.
Good for you....so often one would walk away (mad), but wish later they had done something. She needs to be reported. I know here in Canada (BC), charges would be made through the SPCA. She needs to be held accountable, and also it needs to be on the record that she is an unfit pet owner. Poor little Dexter...
Good for you!!!!!
