Camus is depressed, I'm at a loss. How to entertain while his fractured paw heals?

I take Camus to the dog park every day, with rare exception. Still, at times he gets the zoomies, which he had a case of the day he fractured his paw.  I am fairly certain he got his paw caught in a gopher hole while running the circumference of the park.  His paw (left rear) has been placed in a splint and he is on total restriction, outside when necessary on-leash only, for at least a month.  Now ~ 2 ½ weeks into our sentence he goes between being crazed, trying to run inside, wrestle, jump – to being depressed and non-responsive, which makes me want to cry.  I have bought him many new toys, lots of marrow bones, antlers, etc.  I had to cut his food back since he had gained 5 lbs during the first week of restriction (I think I need to cut my food back too!).  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep him entertained and happy without getting him excited?  At 22 months excitement ='s running and jumping, neither of which is allowed.

Sunny has a toy that is a black top hat which has 3 rabbits stuffed inside. She loves it!
I hope he feels better soon.  He does look sad.  I agree with the others - puzzle toys and new tricks may help.  They keep his mind active, so maybe he'll be a little less bored.

Poor guy, I feel awful for him :o(

Maybe playing a nice soothing music would help. There is always the expensive board games for pups but that too would get old quick.

Sorry, only 1-1/2 weeks to go though, right?

I hope they filled the gopher hole so some other unsuspecting dog doesn't have to go through this.

Oh no poor Camus!!! The middle picture makes me so sad!!  Everyone has already offered you great suggestions.......my dogs LOVE the cup game and a drive in the car would be nice too!  You can give him lots of doggie back massages too.....they calm my crazy pups all the time.  =)  I hope Camus is feeling better and more cheery very soon!!!!
You can lay down and cuddle with him! Hope he feels better soon.
Here is my daughter's advice:
Watch dog shows and dog videos on an ipad (if you have one)(our dog liked watching what other dogs were doing)
Play peek-a-boo

My daughter did this when Casey was spayed. It worked, most of the time.
Others have already given you any suggestions that I would have.  Sophie was restricted once for 6 weeks and I kept her in the x-pen in the house.  She actually did pretty well, but Lucy would go in there with her a lot of the time.  Camus looks pretty unhappy though.  hopefully it will be over soon.  Hugs from Lucy and Sophie for a speedy recovery.
One other thought.  Are they giving him pain pills?  If so, this is probably making him feel better than he actually is.  The vet said not to give Sophie any unless I really had to because it would just make her feel much better and she would want to run and play and she wanted her to just rest and heel.
We survived Darwin's neuter with peanut butter filled kongs...
Lots of great suggestions. I just want to add I hope Camus feels better soon.
