I just read in an article that many people are choosing 'people' names for their dogs now.  Years ago people chose "dog names" such as Rover, Rex, Blackie and Fido.  Now, the trend is for 'people' names.  The article stated the reason for this was because we are now thinking of our dogs more as family members than 'pets'.  So, did you give your dog a 'person name'?  With Tori, it was more of a word we chose because of the meaning of it.  Then we liked it even more because it sort of was like a play on words... Tori sounded like the then NY Yankee manager , Joe Torre.... So we didn't actually choose Tori because it was short for Victoria, but worked out in our favor since she NOW IS considered one of the family...A bit more hairier,  four legs, tail, and all!

And she is no longer "imaginary" which is the best part...right?
Isn't it amazing how special these furry babies are.  Gracie Doodle is my best friend and soul mate for sure.  I love my children and grandchildren with all my heart but having a Doodle is something all together different...something I just can't explain.
No need to even try and explain Nancie...we are ALL right here with you on that one...ha ha.
I've always loved the name Sophie. It's a classic, sweet, gentle and pretty, characteristics I wanted for my doodle. I had thought If I ever had a daughter I would name her Sophie, but I'm not quite sure that's in teh cards for me so I figured I'd use the name while I had the chance. I just added the bear part because she looks likea teddy bear, so I suppose she has a half dog name and half people name lol.
My puppy is Zachary and my other dogs are Zoey, Gracie, and Bruno - human names all the way!  Zachary seemed like it belonged to him. I was Gracie's third mom in 18 months and the idea of Grace seemed appropriate. Bruno was the most popular french baby name the year I got him (french bulldog). Zoey was a retired breeder and had been called Sugar before she came to live with me. As soon as I saw her I thought Zoey.
Cindy... I wanted Zoe for Tori too!

I know years ago Daisy was a human name but I didn't really consider it one when I named her...it just seemed to fit. Actually she is named after the flower!

All that being said, she has always been a part of our family, even before we "PICKED" her!

My sister has a Daisy Mae - a VERY tiny Italian Greyhound!

Cooper is my maiden name. DH and I dont plan on having children so the name seemed just right. We did try to think of a lord of the rings name to go with our cats names (Merry and Pippin at the time, we have since added Legolas the siamese) but non suited her. She is not a dainty girly dog, so Cooper suited her as its often used as a boys name as well as a surname

Poor Cooper had a different name each day for the first few days we had her til we decided. Andrina and Alys were forerunners (both unusual girl human names) as was Arwen and Eowyn from LOTR

I like the use of your maiden name!  Our golden went about a week without a name... finally, we named him Swayze... yup after Patrick Swayze!

I have always LOVED Patrick Swayze - great choice for a name!

Me too, Jane (obviously), but we chose it b/c that was the year DH actually danced with me in a dance recital... we were doing a dance to "Time of My Life", and we needed 'guys' to partner up with.... my sister-in-law joked while watching the video of our debut, and called DH Patrick Swayze... and the rest was history! lol
