Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi All,

Need some help - we've had our Goldendoodle since she was 8 weeks (she's now 5 months) and have been effectively crate training her. She has had no accidents in the crate and maybe one in the house over the past month or so. Today, she has been peeing in the house every 30 minutes - we're surprised and confused and want to make sure everything is ok. Anyone else have something similar happen? Is this a UTI and a vet worthy discussion? Don't want to overreact but want to make sure we're taking care of her.

Thanks,

SGF

Has anything changed?  Food, people, routine?  I haven't had this happen, but based on what I had read on DK, it certainly could be a UTI!  I am sure you will get some good advice.

Hi,

I am not a vet, nor has my dog responded in this way.  At her age, accidents can happen when excited, etc., but it sounds like she is starting to understand the concept of house training. Every 30 minutes seems more than a regular accident and more of a symptom of something else. Based on this, I would take her to the vet asap! :(

Please let us all know how everything turns out.

I agree with the others and just want to add a comment. When she goes is it always in the same vicinity? When you clean it up are you using a solution to eliminate the odor. That's important otherwise she will think that it is her area to pee.

No change in food, people or routine. We use Nature's Miracle for clean-up and it's not happening in the same place. At her age, we're thinking something's wrong but we're not sure if we should consider this an emergency and wait until tomorrow. Any thoughts?

Thanks all!

I think that if she seems to feel fine and has normal energy and appetite it would be OK to wait until tomorrow, but watch her carefully today and if anything gets worse you might want to get her in right away. I hope she'll be fine soon!
Poor pup! (and you)  Yep, it sounds like a UTI or bladder infection but a vet will tell you for sure.  Sometimes urinating is painful for the dog with an infection, so they tend to try and go just a little, but then have to go more often and its hard to control.  Is she peeing frequently when out on the walk too?  Good luck with the vet tomorrow
This happened with both our girls. They both were trained very quickly and had no accidents after the first week or so. But at around 5 months they both started having accidents in the house. It took a couple weeks with the first one to realize it was medical. With the second one we suspected instantly and it was verified by the vet---UTIs. I would suggest a trip to the vet if for no other reason than to rule it out.
One quick question? How old was she when she was spayed? There has been some recent association with early spaying and problems with incontinence and bladder issues later for females. Just asking out of curiosity
