Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi guys......and gals..... doods of all ages.
Jeriki came home the day before yesterday as some of you know. Jeriki is an 8 month old ALD and I am his guardian home. He is Raw fed just like my Marabelle, and was raised from his breeder as raw fed. I know he is a little nervous, and a little scared, and sometimes it is normal for dogs to get the runs when they go to a new home, he did through up once too.
So he threw up once and has had the runs for two days, he even had an explosion in his crate last night 4am, poor DH he cleaned it, poor doodle. he has not stopped playing, and seems to be alright, his appetite is good, he is drinking lots of water. I have given him some pure pumpkin, a few table spoons here and there on his food.
I guess I'm just looking for valadation that its probably just the move and new enviroment right? Marabelle was always fine, never had a worry or bother, she was also only 10 weeks old though, Jiriki is 8 months a little more aware I think :(
Any Advice?
Rhonda

Sounds like a bit more than nerves--maybe give it one more day, then have a vet take a look--not sure you want to have him sick over the holiday weekend--There are things you can do to get the intestines back on track.
I'm sure the food group folks would say a little yogurt and/or pumpkin would sooth his tummy. I bet he's just jittery. Lots of love and praise will bring him around in no time I bet.
I'd take a stool specimen to the vet, it sounds like giardia. Very common in doodle puppies, especially fresh from the breeder's.
I agree with Karen. Check for giardia.
Giardia has a 10-14 day incubation period, so a breeder might not always know if a puppy has it. He may not, but a fecal test is a so simple and non-invasive, I think it's always a good idea when you're dealing with a dog who has more than one episode of diarrhea, especially when they've come from a place with multiple dogs.
I'd wait and see if it is an isolated incident. This happened once to my Shelby.... Might be nerves due to the relocation. If it continues - get it checked out. Keep us updated!!!
id give him some pumpkin, and wait and see how he is. Its most likely from the move. Some dogs react more than others. if it continues then maybe a trip to the vet is needed to check for giradia as its so common and easily picked up.
