My first night with Dougie was not bad...knock on wood!  I do not know if it was the long car ride, but he slept through the night, from 10:30 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.--Whoo hoo!!!!  Poor fella fell asleep on the central air vent, which seems to be his favorite place to snooze.  I also found out that he doesn't like ANY of the "comfy" crate blankets/pillows that I purchased for his crates.   I picked him up and put him in his crate--I camped out on the couch so that I could be close by if necessary.  He whimpered for a second.  I placed his "Snuggle Puppy" in with him and MAGIC...not another sound until 6 a.m.   Needless to say, I do not see an expensive dog bed in Dougie's future. Ditto for the toys.  I purchased a few new toys and his toy of preference is a "white hand towel".

No accidents in the house yet.  However, I can not take credit for that.  I failed to take Dougie out after his morning nap and when I turned around to look for him, he was standing in the un-used "make-shift" litter box taking a potty break.  Pee on carpet averted, thanks to Dougie.

Something tells me that he will have more energy today so I plan to be ready.  Here are a few more pics:

So cute!  Glad it's going well so far!

Adrienne... So excited for you and your family now that Dougie is home! Sounds like the first night was a great one. I slept in the living room on the couch for about a week! Love the photos.... My Shelby never liked the cozy stuff in her crate either... I think she got too warm. However, she now has several dog beds in various rooms and enjoys them all times of year.... When she's not resting on the cool tile!
CongratZ !! Dougie is such a nice pup, and I bet the family is already in love with him !:-)
Enjoy the puppy times , they go by soooo quickly.

What a great start!  Dougie is so adorable.

What a cutie!  My dogs love the cool tiles in the bathroom and kitchen also.  They will sleep over a vent if there is one in the house (which there is not in our house).  They scrunch us the bathroom rugs to use as a pillow but want their bodies on the tiles.  My dogs have been known to sleep in front of a fan if there is one going.  Luckily we live in a cool area and only a few hot days.  For example, today (first day of summer) was cloudy and wet and the temperatures in the low 60s.  Perfect day for biking and dog walking.  Summer here is usually foggy and cool.  We love the weather.

So glad your first night went well.  Bailey never liked blankets in her crate either.  She would rather sleep on the hard plastic liner..silly doodles !

Can not believe he made a BFF so fast..how cute is that!! He seems to be really smart...the cool vent & and a snuggle friend already!! IMPRESSIVE

Thanks about the reminder of the vent problem!  I was going to say the same thing.  Seeing that adorable picture of the puppy on the vent reminded me of when Bexter got his collar tag stuck in it.  It was a very scary thing!  Bexter slept constantly when I first had him too.  Don't worry; he eventually will get more active and then you'll wish he was more sleepy!  Congratulations!  He is adorable!  And for the record...I LOVE boy dogs.

Awww... so cute! Willow spent her first summer on the AC vent too - we brought her home in mid-June. For 2.5 years Willow didn't pay attention to any of her beds and rugs, but surprise! She started using a dog bed that I bought for her (with a lot of skepticism, of course) last X-mas. Don't throw out your doggie beds yet. :)

What a cutie patootie!  Makes me long for puppy breath.  Dougie is so lucky to have landed with you!

Awwww, Dougie is so cute! I love those puppies days, they go by so fast. Enjoy!

Oh He is so adorable. He and Cody look very much alike. I know how much fun you will have with him, but I am jealous of his long night of sleep!! We are traveling right now, and only have Cody with us. We have to take him out at bedtime, then again sometime between 3 and 4:30. Yawn! But he goes out, immediately pees then heads straight back to the Motorhome. Such a good boy! I hated to leave Casey at home, but we are following everyone's advice to train them separately, and to seperate them for walks, attention, play time, etc. since we were going to be out for three days, we decided to only bring one of them on the trip - they will alternate trips -at least for awhile.
