Yesterday I'd given Oscar a bath and blow dry and was all ready to tackle a clipper cut today. I laid out all the necessities... clipper, comb attachments and brush. Then I went and got Oscar to put him on the grooming table. Once there, I started the clipper and began clipping from the neck down his back. That's when I realized I'd forgotten the comb attachment and had shaved him down to the skin!! UH-OH!! I'm just glad I didn't start on the top of his head! LOL!

After that major mess up I paid close attention to every detail. I think in spite of the rough start it all turned out okay! Live and learn! LOL!

I would have never known the "oops"!    Hubby and I still gearing up enough nerve to tackle Enzo.   We have all the tools....just minus the guts and probably the "know-how".  I want her to look like she didn't have a groom.  In other words, the "bed-head, messy look",

Thanks! I can relate. I had all the tools for a good month before I found the courage to start grooming the doods myself. I'm not always happy with the outcome, and the grooms never seem to last as long as the professional's, but I'm glad I did start. I think it might be easier to groom that bed-head look. For me, I want to see a difference after I do a groom. With Oscar anyway, it always looks like he lost 10 lbs.!

No problem, just the new textured look!  He looks great!

Thanks! DH said I should do 2 more slashes in his neck to give him a modern, edgy, fade-cut!

I imagine everyone who's ever taken a clipper to a dog has done this at one time or another! I always figure if I didn't draw any blood, theirs or mine, it was a good grooming session. He looks great! Good job.

Thanks, Sue! Good policy, btw!

Oops, yes, I guess it's a good thing that you did not start on top of his head. What a great job, though. I'm seriously contemplating learning to do this. Every since our original groomer died, I'm having a hard time with the ones that took over.

I'll need to check in the grooming group to see what clippers and attachments you are using. Feel free to let me know here, though.

Thanks, Jarka! I use an Andis AGC Super 2-Speed Clipper. I found the best price at Petedge.com. I like the Wahl Stainless Steel comb attachments much better than plastic ones. They give a more even cut, imo. I think I got my set (including case/box) off of amazon.com.

BTW, I tried ordering the SS Wahl attachment comb set from Petedge.com at the same time as the clipper order, but they were backordered for several weeks. Petedge probably has them back in stock now.

Ha,ha....gives the big boy character!  You really do a great grooming job, Debb!

LOL.. that's what I say when I drop something and dent it! Gives it Character! Thanks, Pat, for the nice compliement

Ouch! But yes, he looks fantastic! I do this too often--and I am grooming other people's dogs! It is not easy to disguise it either--oh well!
