I think most people who have both love their individual dogs so much I don't think they could pick. Black dogs show less dirt and staining doesn't look as noticeable, but they are hard to photograph and photographs usually don't do them justic. Other than that it's just personal preference.
Perhaps a good place to post this question in the "Black & White Group"

Well, I have a black and creme doodle - all rolled into one. He is a phantom goldendoodle and absolutely beautiful. Prefer one dog over another? I kind of doubt that. They are all wonderful.
Our Vern is cream and truly is the dirtiest dog ever. He rolls in something every single day. Fudge is chocolate and loves to dig, but you can never see the dirt. LOL Black dogs would definitely show less dirt, but then again, ticks are much more visible on a cream dog. Go with temperament first, because you are going to love that dog no matter the color.
Amanda, I have a caramel and a chocolate, so not much help there! But I say look into their faces and take in their personalities and you'll know which is meant for you.
Other than personal preference, here are some of the reasons I have heard for choosing one color over the other.
My parents didn't want a black dog because they live in the country and black dogs are harder to see in the dark. Their dogs are inside dogs but they have a fenced in yard for playing. Even so, if the dogs get out of the house/yard, they worry about them getting on the road at night. A lighter colored dog is more visible.
We used to choose dog color based on color of carpet/clothes/furniture. What color dog hair matches best. Funny but true.
My sister got the first goldendoodle in the family and she wanted blond. I went with her to pick out her pup from a huge litter. Even though I "prefer" blond dogs, the personality of 2 of the black puppies stood out. My sister went for the smallest, curliest, blondest pup and came home with the largest, wavy-haired, blackest pup. Her dog Charlie spawned a pile of doodles in our family. Personality trumps appearance every time!
I have 2 browns and 1 blond. There is something nice about my dark dogs not showing dirt. Charlie (my sister's black) always looks clean and "dressed up". My platinum blond doodle shows dirt - but she's spectacular after a bath! Blond or black - choose personality and you'll love whichever!
You won't be disappointed with either color. We love our black one, and we love our café one. I wouldn't trade either of them for any dog on this earth.
I don't really have any advice. Both my doodles are apricot/red. What a fun exciting time! I agree with the people telling you to go on temperament. You think color matters now, but when you meet the little doodles, all you'll care about is the ONE you fall in love with. I think both colors are adorable (as you can tell if you look at pictures on DK)... I do think it would be harder to take pictures of the dark ones, but then again, they usually fade I think. Have fun deciding!
I have one of each and love them both to bits. When I originally decided to get a doodle I wanted a red or brown but ended up with a cream and black :) I could care less what color they are, I have fallen in love with their individual personality. Sorry I'm not much help !!
