I want to get some input on what you are using and how you get it. Online or from your vet.
For now Yogi is taking heartgard only because fleas are not a concern yet. I want to decide what I'm going to use this spring. My vet recommended trifexis, but I've seen some negative news about this one, so what do you use for fleas and heart worms and how do you obtain it?

I use Heartgard Plus and Frontline Plus, I have for years and years. As you may know, JD has several fairly serious health issues, and yet he has never had any kind of reaction or issue from these preventatives.

I only buy them from the vet. We recently had a discussion here on DK about the fact that the manufacturer does not sell to retail stores or internet sites, only to veterinarians, so any product you buy anywhere other than your vet is not coming from the manufacturer. It's either bootleg, counterfeit, or has been resold. It's not worth saving a few dollars a year to take that chance, IMO.

Well we use Frontline that we used to purchase at Costco….. There was some kind of issue raised I forget how and I ended up calling the Frontline company who said they ONLY sell their products to Vets… I asked them how Costco or other stores, or online stores got them and their response was' We only sell to Vets" So we returned our supply to Costco and now get Frontline from the Vet as well has HeartGuard Plus.

I have read and heard some things about Trifexes as well and I won't use it. I believe if your dog has a propensity to seizures it may cause them to have one but I am not sure of the specifics so I don't want to misinform ….

Trifexis here with no problems. And for now, we get it from our Vet. Since the dose changes by weight, they give it to her each month, rather than us buying it. Until she reaches her adult weight, we'll do it this way.
Please, as mentioned, only purchase your products from your vet not online or retail stores.
We use HeartGuard and K9 Advantix II

We just started using Trifexis with Zoe.  No adverse reactions.  I too was concerned about side effects.  We gave her half the pill after breakfast and the second half about 30 min later with a little more food.

We use Trifexis for Oscar and Sentinel for Lucy, both from the vet's office. We had tried Sentinel on Oscar and he just didn't seem himself the rest of the day, so back to Trifexis without any problems. My vet will meet any online price for these meds, btw.

Trifexis here too. Charlie eats way too many things outside... we need the intestinal worm prevention!

I use Revolution, a topical applied once a month.

We use Fronline Plus and Heartgard Plus. Also get them from our vet. You may want to ask your vet if they will match a online price. I printed the prices from PetMads.com a couple years ago and they had no problem matching as long as it wasn't lower than their cost.

Heartguard Plus and Frontline Plus here and from the Vet as well.

Trifexis here with no issues.

Heartguard Plus and Vectra 3D

Love both products and only get them from the vet
